The information is scant so far.

Wolf Entertainment is a juggernaut of police procedurals, with the immensely successful Law & Order franchise, The FBI — a new franchise quickly spawning multiple spin-offs — and Chicago PD to boot. All in all, no less than seven series in the genre are currently being produced by Dick Wolf's TV empire, but that apparently isn't enough, as a new cop drama from Wolf Entertainment is now on the way.

On Call will be a half-hour scripted series produced for Prime Video, so it's going to be Wolf Entertainment's very first show made for streaming. Here's what we know about it so far.

Who's making it and starring in it?

Executive producers of the show include Tim Walsh and Eriq La Salle, both veterans of Chicago PD. Elliot Wolf is also its co-creator. The whole cast is not yet known, but the names of the actors playing the main duo have already been revealed. Troian Bellisario will play Traci Harmon, a disillusioned veteran officer, and Brandon Larracuente will star as Alex Diaz, an ambitious trainee.

What is it going to be about?

As you can guess from the above, it's going to be an 'old cynic/hotshot rookie' kind of story. The framing of the work is going to be police officers on patrol, as they respond to radio calls and resolve incidents. The plot is said to involve some mix of internal police politics and dealing with the loss of a fellow officer (on part of Bellisario's character, presumably).

The show will be set in Long Beach, California.

How is it going to be different from other cop shows by Wolf Entertainment?

Honestly, so far the biggest differences seem to be the novel distribution channel and the episode runtime (all the above-mentioned shows have episodes running for 40 minutes or a bit more, not counting commercial breaks).

With little information available now, it's still hard to tell how On Call is going to distinguish itself from all the other series, especially since Wolf's numerous procedurals have already explored just about every aspect of police work.

However, given the involvement of people who worked on Chicago PD, On Call is more likely to lean towards realism and authentic depictions of the officers' professional and personal lives, rather than excessive drama and action.
