Every Song in Merv: The Ultimate Prime Video Soundtrack Guide
Prime Video’s rom-com Merv wears its heart on its sleeve, powered by a swoon-ready score from Tom Howe. The Ted Lasso and Daisy Jones and the Six composer blends whimsy and romance to amplify every emotional beat.
Prime Video dropped a rom-com called 'Merv' that is exactly what it sounds like: a breakup, a dog who takes it harder than anyone, and a Florida trip that turns into therapy with palm trees. The music matters here, and the movie knows it.
The movie, the music, the vibe
Directed by Jessica Swale and led by Charlie Cox and Zooey Deschanel, 'Merv' tracks exes Russ and Anna as they try to fix their depressed dog by relocating from snowy Boston to sunny Florida. Predictably (and a little adorably), the dog is not the only one who gets a mood lift. It premiered on Prime Video on December 10, 2025.
The original score is by Tom Howe, whose resume includes 'Ted Lasso' and 'Daisy Jones & the Six'. His work here leans heartfelt, a little whimsical, and very openly romantic — the kind of scoring that nudges the story forward without elbowing you in the ribs.
Every song in Merv (and where it lands)
- 'Christmas is Going to the Dogs' – Eels (2:57) — Boston is blanketed in snow while Merv mopes around the apartment, fully in his feels.
- 'Belong Together' – Mark Ambor (2:28) — Russ scrolls a Facebook memory celebrating 10 years of friendship with Anna, with a highlight reel of their life together, including adopting Merv.
- 'Puppies Are Forever' – Sia (3:14) — Sun, beach, and a full-on Florida montage with Russ, Anna, and Merv doing the vacation thing far from Boston slush.
- 'It's My Dog Birthday' – T-Pain (3:31) — At Jocelyn's dog Lolly's birthday party. Yes, the dog wears a bow. Yes, the decor goes hard.
- 'Dance Like Animals' – Mini Rascals (2:25) — Russ and Jocelyn click and chat about the party, their lives, and the breakup fallout.
- 'Get Over It!' – John Landau & The Giants (3:18) — Jocelyn's brother, a sheriff, awkwardly flirts with Anna until Russ steps in and shuts it down.
- 'Che Che Colé' – Marc Anthony (3:26) — Russ and Anna sneak into a salsa party; he dances with an older woman while Anna watches, amused and maybe a little nostalgic.
- 'Bamboleo' – Gypsy Kings (3:23) — The exes finally dance together, slip into old rhythm, then attempt the 'Dirty Dancing' lift and promptly fall into the pool. Perfect.
- 'One Week' – Barenaked Ladies (2:49) — Post-visit with Russ's parents, they sing along in the car and even hold hands. You see where this is going.
- 'I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas' – Lake Street Dive (3:24) — After they patch things up, they move back in and celebrate Christmas. Russ's new dog, Angelina, gets in on the dancing, and Anna proposes to Russ.
- 'Someone To You' – BANNERS (3:39) — Not in the film itself, but it scores the official trailer released by Prime Video.
Quick note on the score
Howe handled the film's original score and the main theme. It stitches together the movie's sweeter, sillier beats with the big emotional turns without turning everything into syrup. Light, sweet, very Florida.
