Every Christmas Gift in Grow a Garden Ranked: Rarity Tiers and Spawn Rates
December cheer hits Grow a Garden as Tinsel the Elf arrives with Christmas presents in the holiday update—but there’s a catch: those gifts don’t come free.
Holiday mode is officially on in Roblox's Grow a Garden, but hold the eggnog: the gifts are not free. Tinsel the Elf has set up shop as Santa's right-hand helper, and the only way to unwrap anything is by feeding the system Christmas-mutated plants. It is festive, it is grindy, and yes, it mixes RNG with a plant tax.
How the Christmas gifts actually work
You grow crops, inflict a 'Christmas' mutation on them, then haul those special plants over to Tinsel and dump them into the big floating gift box next to him. That fills a progress bar. When a gift rolls, it will be one of five tiers (Common, Rare, Mythical, Gold, Rainbow), each with its own odds to appear and its own plant requirement tied to it. Translation: you are submitting a bunch of mutated crops and then rolling the dice on which gift tier you get, with higher-end boxes asking for more plants. The contents of each box also have their own drop rates, so there are two layers of RNG here.
Every gift tier, the plant cost, and what is inside
- Common Gift — 52.63% chance to appear; submit 120 Christmas-mutated plants. Contents and drop odds: 3x Common Coal (17.65%), 10x Event Lantern (17.65%), 10x Watering Can (17.65%), 2x Snow Shovel (17.65%), Peppermint Pop (17.65%), Christmas Egg (11.76%).

Contents and drop odds: Christmas Egg (34.48%), Christmas Treat (10.34%), Large Toy (10.34%), Mystical Snow Globe (10.34%), Levelup Lollipop (10.34%), Grandmaster Sprinkler (10.34%), Christmas Cracker (6.90%), Cocoa Cat (6.09%).
What counts as a 'Christmas mutation'?
These are event-only modifiers you can apply to crops. Any of the following will count toward the progress bar when you hand them to Tinsel: Snowy, Snowtouched, Ornamented, Arctic, Eggnog, Glacial, Snowfall, Peppermint, Hyper Hunger, Nocturnal, Christmas Rally, Jolly Decorator, Merry Nursery, Giant Golem.
Quick sanity check
If the setup sounds a little quirky, it is. Each gift tier has both a spawn chance and a plant requirement, which means you are banking mutated plants at Tinsel and then relying on the tier odds above to determine what pops. The better the box, the higher the plant sink and the rarer the roll. Plan your grind around the tier you are aiming for, and brace for RNG doing RNG things.
