Epic Games Store Leak Teases Red Dead Redemption 2 Going Free This December, Plus More AAA Blockbusters
A blockbuster leak has spilled the Epic Games Store’s December 2025 freebies, with Hogwarts Legacy already up for grabs and Red Dead Redemption 2 riding in as the showstopper.
We might be heading into a wild December on the Epic Games Store. A new leak claims a stacked lineup of freebies is coming to close out 2025 — and it looks ridiculous enough to be either a dream or a typo-filled fever chart. The headline grabs are Red Dead Redemption 2 and Detroit: Become Human supposedly dropping right at the end of the month. Oh, and Hogwarts Legacy is on the list too, and that one is actually free right now. If you want it, go grab it.
The leak at a glance
The list floating around packs roughly $300 worth of games if you go by current sale prices, or about $500 if you use MSRP. A lot of these picks fit Epic’s usual pattern: older crowd-pleasers and evergreen hits that make for good doorbusters. Then you get to the big swing at the end (RDR2) and things start to look… ambitious.
Worth flagging: there’s a small contradiction baked into the leak. One part frames Detroit: Become Human and Red Dead Redemption 2 as both going free on December 31, but the detailed schedule puts Detroit on December 29 and RDR2 on December 31. Classic leak energy.

How plausible is this?
On the believable side: most of these games are older, and Epic’s year-end giveaways have a history of dusting off well-loved titles. Epic even shocked everyone with Grand Theft Auto V a while back, so a splashy headliner isn’t impossible. And again, Hogwarts Legacy being free right now helps the case that this year’s promo is swinging big.
On the eyebrow-raise side: Mortal Kombat 11 isn’t on the Epic Games Store at all as of now, and neither is Terraria. Could they suddenly launch on the store timed to a giveaway? Sure. Do leaks usually nail that kind of surprise third-party coordination? Not often. Also, that Commander Keen pricing looks upside down (MSRP lower than the listed current price), and two games share December 19, which isn’t unheard of for Epic’s promos but still adds to the messy vibes.
Bottom line
Fun list, decent odds some of it hits, but I wouldn’t carve December 31 into a headstone for your wallet just yet. Treat this as rumor territory until Epic posts the official calendar. In the meantime, if you haven’t grabbed Hogwarts Legacy while it’s free, do that — at least one part of this leak is real.
