Emmerdale Bombshell: John Sugden's Downfall Looms After Shocking ITVX Slip-Up

A recent ITVX leak has fans buzzing—could John Sugden finally be facing the consequences of his darkest move yet?
Spoilers for today (Tuesday 16 September 2025): the latest Emmerdale is already up on ITVX.
If you were starting to think John Sugden had everyone permanently snowed, today is the first real wobble in his house of cards. Someone finally clocks that he is not the saint he keeps pretending to be.
Quick catch-up
- John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) dragged his husband Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) over the edge of a gorge. Aaron survived but he is in a coma.
- To cover himself, John framed his half-brother Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) — who also happens to be Aaron’s ex-husband.
- Despite years of watching Robert be hopelessly in love with Aaron, the village bought John’s version fast. Robert was hauled back to prison.
- Even Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) — half-sister to both John and Robert — cut Robert off. When she wavered about visiting him, John pushed hard for her not to go, clearly worried Robert might expose him.
What actually happens today
Victoria ignores John’s warning and goes to see Robert in prison, armed with righteous fury and ready to tell him exactly what she thinks he did.
Robert lays out his side to a very skeptical Vic. She accuses him of shoving John off that cliff and accidentally sending Aaron over with him. Robert is adamant: even if it were an accident, he would never risk Aaron’s safety. Then he adds something new — not just more pleading, but fresh reasoning that challenges the official story — and follows it with some raw, heartfelt honesty about how much he loves Aaron.
Meanwhile, at the hospital...
There’s a new update on Aaron’s condition. At the same time, someone is watching John closely. His behaviour starts to ping alarms — the kind of little tells that, in soap land, usually mean the countdown has begun. It finally feels like time could be running out for him.
If you want to see the start of John’s unraveling, the episode is streaming now on ITVX and airs at 7:30pm on ITV1. There are still plenty of reveals queued up, but this turn alone is worth catching in real time.
