Emily in Paris Season 5: Is a New Man About to Steal Emily’s Heart?

Bonjour, arrivederci: Emily returns for season 5 of Netflix’s Emily in Paris, now stirring up la dolce vita in Rome with a new flame—though the City of Love isn’t done with her yet.
Emily Cooper is back for Season 5, and yes, she has traded croissants for cannoli. Temporarily. The new season swings over to Italy and puts her in Rome with a new job and a new guy, but Paris is not off the map. Expect gorgeous scenery, lots of work wins, and the standard-issue romantic chaos Emily seems contractually obligated to attract.
So, what changed?
At the end of Season 4, Emily split from chef-next-door Gabriel (Lucas Bravo). Season 5 picks up with her in Rome, where she’s not just playing tourist. She’s running the newly expanded Agence Grateau Rome. The teaser shows her zipping around on a Vespa, floating through Venice’s canals, and generally proving that being stylish is a full-time job. Also, Darren Star told Deadline that Emily isn’t leaving Paris behind, so consider this an Italian detour, not a permanent move.
The love mess (because of course)
Emily’s history so far has basically been Gabriel vs. Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), with plenty of flirting, breakups, makeups, and pain au chocolat. The new wrinkle: Marcello, an Italian model/entrepreneur played by newcomer Eugenio Franceschini. The teaser makes their chemistry pretty obvious, and they are definitely not shy about PDA.
Meanwhile, Gabriel is having second thoughts. Now that he knows Camille is not pregnant, he’s rethinking how he ended things with Emily. Darren Star hinted there’s unfinished business there, so cue the inevitable tug-of-war between the guy she’s known forever and the shiny new option.
The teaser’s vibe
The first footage is all glittery Italy and big feelings, and it leans into the pun of the century:
"Hearts will Rome farther than ever before."
Professionally, Emily’s leveling up; romantically, it’s a moving target. The marketing is basically asking the question the show has dodged for years: can Emily stop chasing and finally start building something real?
Alfie is not out of the picture
Lucien Laviscount told People that fans should brace themselves for some sharp turns this season. His character still matters, and the scripts apparently surprised the cast too.
"All I’m gonna say is strap in, because it goes left, so far left, and a little bit right this season."
"I didn’t know what to expect — none of us do before we get the scripts — and we got the scripts for this season and it’s ... Yeah, I don’t think anyone could have foreseen that coming."

Odds and ends
