Eloise-Centric Season 4 is Only Logical After Bridgerton Season 3 Delay
...and it will probably be the last.
In the past few days, we got indirect but very convincing confirmation that the premiere of Bridgerton Season 3 will be postponed until next year, most likely until late spring or early summer. That means the gap between Anthony and Colin's stories will exceed two years.
On top of that, the future of Season 4, which Netflix has already approved, doesn't appear much brighter. Due to the Hollywood strikes, work on the season is either paused or in the very early stages. Hence, it's likely slated for a late 2025 release.
Of course, such long pauses between seasons cause frustration for the vast Bridgerton fandom. But there's more to it.
Season 4 Could Be The Last
In addition to upsetting fans, the painfully long pauses between seasons could potentially result in the show being canceled after Season 4.
The primary cast members won't stay with the show indefinitely, especially in supporting roles, and without them, Bridgerton loses its allure. We've already seen Season 1 leads Regé-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor exit the show to pursue other projects.
The same is likely to happen to Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Nicola Coughlan, and Luke Newton eventually. They have to move on. Thus, the longer the studio extends the pauses between seasons, the higher the chances that Bridgerton will end with Season 4.
Eloise Most Likely Lead in Season 4
Currently, we have two important members of the Bridgerton family who haven't had their solo stories yet, Eloise and Benedict. If Season 4 is set to be the final season of the series, it would be logical for the creators to center it around Eloise. There are several reasons for that.
The showrunners will likely aim for an equal split between male and female Bridgerton leads. After Daphne, Anthony, and Colin have all found their happily-ever-afters, the next sister in line is Eloise.
While Benedict didn't contribute much last season, Eloise's story has already set in motion. Her potential love interest, Sir Phillip Crane, has been cast and has already appeared on screen twice. The writers can't let that go to waste, can they?
Moreover, let's not forget that Eloise has become a larger fan favorite than Benedict with her numerous storylines and dialogues and can draw more viewers.
Of course, there are always other options, such as merging Eloise and Benedict's stories into one season. But that seems like a long shot. What do you think?
