Elizabeth Olsen ends the speculation at last, revealing where she stands on Avengers: Doomsday and revisiting her journey as Wanda Maximoff.

Elizabeth Olsen finally addressed the big Wanda-in-the-next-Avengers question, and the short version is: she loves the Scarlet Witch, but she has no idea if she is in Avengers: Doomsday. Classic Marvel answer, but she actually gives a little more than the usual coy non-answer.

So... is Wanda in Doomsday?

Olsen told The Playlist while promoting her upcoming film Eternity that she is proud of everything she has made with Marvel and would love to keep playing Wanda Maximoff. But when it comes to Avengers: Doomsday, she says there are no multiverse plans in motion on her end and she genuinely does not know when or how she would come back.

'I just have no idea how or when, for sure.'

Read between the lines and it sounds like she is not in Doomsday. That said, Marvel lives for secrecy and surprise cameos, so even a straight answer can mean... not much. Remember the Andrew Garfield routine? Exactly.

What the MCU timeline looks like around this

Here is where the scheduling gets interesting. Avengers: Doomsday finished principal photography in mid-September 2025. The movie is dated for December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars is expected to do reshoots in spring 2026. All of that leaves a lot of room for Marvel to shuffle, hide, or add things later if they want to.

  • Avengers: Doomsday wrapped principal photography: mid-September 2025
  • Avengers: Secret Wars reshoots expected: spring 2026
  • Avengers: Doomsday release date: December 18, 2026
  • Olsen on Wanda: proud of the character and wants to return, but no current multiverse plan and no idea when
  • Translation: by her account, she is likely not in Doomsday, but Marvel secrecy keeps the door cracked

What she is making instead

Outside the MCU, Olsen is leaning hard into filmmaker-driven projects. She leads Todd Solondz's dark comedy Love Child, about a boy who tries to engineer a romance between his mom and a tenant after his dad's brush with death. She is also in Panos Cosmatos' Flesh of the Gods, a neon-soaked 1980s vampire thriller that pairs her with Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac. Both films are moving forward, and they line up with the way Olsen says she wants to steer her career right now: not hopping franchise to franchise, but working on projects that feel more reflective of the culture and the moment.

Where this leaves Wanda

For now, take Olsen at her word: no plan, no timeline, nothing concrete. She wants to come back, and Marvel loves a secret, so do not rule out a surprise in Doomsday or whatever comes right after. But if you are counting cameos before they hatch, maybe keep expectations in check.
