Decades-old Eddie Murphy comedies are landing on Netflix next month, with two fan-favorite hits primed to deliver a fresh jolt of nostalgia to subscribers.

Eddie Murphy fans, Netflix is about to turn November into a mini-retrospective. Two throwback hits drop right at the top of the month, and a new career-spanning doc lands shortly after. Efficient. I like it.

What is coming and when

  • Nov 1, 2025: 'Dr. Dolittle' (1998) and 'Dr. Dolittle 2' hit Netflix
  • Nov 12, 2025: 'Being Eddie', a new documentary directed by Angus Wall, arrives

Why these Dolittle movies are a big deal

The first 'Dr. Dolittle' is late-90s Eddie doing high-concept family comedy: he plays a buttoned-up surgeon who can suddenly talk to animals. Naturally, everyone around him thinks he is losing it, so a lot of the movie is him trying to prove he is not. It was a legit crowd-pleaser in 1998 and spawned one theatrical sequel in 2001. Both that original and 'Dr. Dolittle 2' are part of Netflix's November 1 drop.

The new doc

'Being Eddie' is pitched as a full sweep of Murphy's 50-year run across stand-up and movies. He is 64 now, so expect something that covers the whole arc from breakout to still-working icon. Angus Wall directs, and it lands Nov 12.

These additions are part of Netflix's November 2025 lineup, flagged by What's on Netflix.

Already on Netflix if you want to pre-game

Netflix already has 16 Eddie Murphy titles: 'Shrek', 'Shrek 2', 'Shrek the Third', 'Shrek Forever After', 'Daddy Day Care', 'Dolemite Is My Name', 'Eddie Murphy: Raw', 'The Nutty Professor', 'Nutty Professor II: The Klumps', 'Tower Heist', 'You People', 'Coming to America', 'Beverly Hills Cop', 'Beverly Hills Cop II', 'Beverly Hills Cop III', and 'Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F'.
