Downton Abbey is taking one last bow at home. Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has laid out the plan for the third and final film’s digital and disc rollout, plus a big legacy box set for the diehards. Not a bad note to go out on.
"This sensational motion picture finale brings 15 unforgettable years of heartfelt drama to a close and is the must-have story of the season."
Release timing
Here’s how the send-off lands at home: you can rent or buy the film digitally starting Tuesday, September 30. The 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray editions follow on November 11, 2025.
What the movie’s actually about
Set as the Crawleys step into the 1930s, Mary gets dragged into a public scandal right as the family’s money problems flare up. With social disgrace looming, everyone upstairs and downstairs has to adapt fast, while the staff readies for a handoff to the next generation. It’s very much a final chapter energy: endings, transitions, and a nod toward a modern world these characters don’t fully recognize.
The extras you get at home
- Changing times: The cast and filmmakers break down how the shifting era nudges everyone toward believable, hopeful endings.
- Society season: A look at the Crawleys navigating the London season, that tradition-heavy stretch of high-society events, and how those set pieces come together on screen.
- Authenticity, obsessively: The team (with historical advisor Alastair Bruce) shows the detail work that keeps the period feel locked in.
- A farewell to fans: The cast and creatives say thank you and get a little sentimental about the long run.
- High tea send-off: Hugh Bonneville hosts a cast celebration with stories, confessions, music, and a world-exclusive scene to toast the finale.
- Feature commentary: An audio track with director Simon Curtis and Elizabeth McGovern.

It’s packaged as a 52-page book with a foreword by series creator Julian Fellowes, plus behind-the-scenes photos, costume and set design sketches, and more. If you’re all-in on Downton, this is the coffee-table flex.
