What is new this year
Two fresh categories join the lineup: Best Traditional Country Album and Best Album Cover. The latter should spark some lively debates, because yes, we are now officially rewarding the art that stares at you from the front of the record.
How the winners are picked (the short version)
Eligibility runs from August 31, 2024 through August 30, 2025. Projects get submitted, then Academy members vote in a first round to decide the nominees. After nominations are announced, only voting members of the Recording Academy cast final ballots — that means artists, producers, engineers, songwriters, and other music pros. It is a peer award by design.
Nominations snapshot
Kendrick Lamar leads the pack in nominations this year. Expect that to come up more than once on the broadcast.
Plan your night (or morning)
If you are watching outside the U.S., the platform can vary by region, and the start time might be breakfast-adjacent. Set a reminder now so you do not miss the performances, the awkward teleprompter jokes, and the inevitable one acceptance speech that melts your cold, cynical heart.
