Boston Blue barrels into Episode 9 this week, as detectives Danny Reagan and Lena Silver chase a family-linked killer after a father’s bombshell — here’s when it drops and where to watch.

Quick heads-up for the schedule-keepers: Boston Blue Season 1, Episode 9 is up next, and CBS is dropping it soon. If you missed last week, here’s the fast catch-up and what to know before the next one airs.

Previously on Boston Blue

Episode 8, titled "In the Name of the Father, And of the Son ...", kept it squarely in the family. Danny Reagan and Lena Silver worked a murder that took a turn when the victim’s father revealed the killer might be a relative. Meanwhile, Lena butted heads with her mom, DA Mae Silver, over arrest warrants. That blows up into a larger mother-daughter mess until a long-buried secret comes out and shifts their dynamic.

On the rookie side, Sean Reagan and Jonah Silver caught heat after they arrested a Boston Fire chief who crashed while drunk. Police versus firefighters is already tense city politics, but Superintendent Sarah Silver backed the rookies — and stood behind their assault claims — instead of throwing them under the nearest ladder truck.

When and where to watch Episode 9

  • Release date: Friday, December 19, 2025
  • US times: 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT
  • Where to watch: CBS

If you’re new here: CBS (originally the Columbia Broadcasting System) is one of the Big Three broadcast networks. It’s now the flagship of Paramount Skydance following their 2025 merger. Programming-wise, think 60 Minutes, NCIS, FBI, Tracker, Matlock, Survivor, and more. It’s also the home of soaps like The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

What the show is, straight from the official line

"Follow NYPD officer Danny Reagan as he takes a position with Boston PD. Once in Boston, he is paired with detective Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family."

One quirky detail: the show itself calls her Lena Silver on-screen — she’s tied to DA Mae Silver, rookie Jonah Silver, and Superintendent Sarah Silver — while the official synopsis says Lena Peters. It reads like an early name that stuck in marketing copy even though the family name on the show is Silver. Just so you’re not wondering if you missed an episode where she changed it.

Bottom line: Episode 9 lands December 19 on CBS at 10/9c (that’s 10 p.m. ET, 7 p.m. PT). Given where last week left the Silvers and Reagans, expect more family drama layered over the casework — Boston-style.
