Don't Expect These 4 Characters to Return in Blue Bloods Season 14
The list includes two Reagans.
During its long 13-season run, Blue Bloods introduced many new characters. Some of them joined the core cast and became fan favorites, while others moved from starring to guest roles.
The format of a large ensemble police procedural demands that Blue Bloods introduce new storylines and characters each season, sometimes at the expense of old, beloved ones.
Thus, we are unlikely to see four major cast members in Season 14, which has been severely delayed by the Hollywood strikes. And those four include two members of the Reagan family.
If your heart just skipped a beat, don't worry, Tom Selleck's Frank Reagan and all of his close-knit children will be back for next season and are determined to see the show through to the finale. The characters we expect to miss in the upcoming episodes are Frank's grandchildren. But let's look at the whole list one by one.
Jackie Curatola (Jennifer Esposito)
Since Jennifer Esposito left Blue Bloods after Season 3, many viewers have almost forgotten that Danny Reagan ever had a partner other than Maria Baez. However, the actress made a surprise guest appearance in the Season 13 finale, which revived fans' memories and love for the character.
Not only was Detective Jackie Curatola phenomenal at her job, but she also had undeniable chemistry with Danny. However, the fun cameo in the latest finale seems to be all the fans are getting. There have been no official announcements or rumors about the character returning for Season 14.
Rachel Witten (Lauren Patten)
After Eddie Janko-Reagan's partner of several years left the police force to become a social worker in Season 12, the fans were only able to catch up with her one more time. It was nice to see Rachel Witten in her new role and at the famous Reagan Sunday dinner.
But while Rachel remains many viewers' favorite non-Reagan character and will be sorely missed, it does not look like she will return unless she brings the Reagans another case to investigate.
Now let's move on to the Reagan family, which will be getting smaller next season. On screen, of course.
Nicky Reagan-Boyle (Sami Gayle)
The first member who will likely not be seen on screen next season is Erin's daughter, Nicky. Since she left for college in Season 10, we have only seen Nicky twice in three seasons, leading us to believe that the character will not return in the upcoming episodes.
Jack Reagan (Tony Terraciano)
Another Reagan who is likely to skip next season is Danny and Linda's son, Jack. Like Nicky, he left for college in previous seasons and has only appeared in a few scenes since.
While Tony Terraciano, who also went to college in real life, previously found time to appear in at least one episode per season, the delay in filming caused by the Hollywood strikes will likely see him at college when Season 14 is filmed.
