Episode 6 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3 drops a lot to chew on, and not just the France side of things. The other thing people are buzzing about: is there actually a spark between Carol and Antonio, and could that set up a reunion down the line?
Carol and Antonio: are we reading this right?
The episode, titled 'Contrabando,' is loaded with little moments that feel like more than friendly. Some of it is subtle, some of it... less so.
- When Roberto’s health takes a turn, Carol figures Fede is keeping Roberto on a short leash and sitting on the meds he needs. She sneaks into Fede’s office to grab medicine, gets caught, and then talks her way out of it — with a timely assist from Antonio’s mother and a few Spanish phrases she’s picked up.
- Later, Antonio opens up about his late wife — the kind of personal share you don’t toss out to just anyone.
- And yes, there’s the awkward bit where Carol accidentally walks in on Antonio mid-shower. Not exactly subtle.
Fans clocked the chemistry fast and started asking the obvious question: is this going somewhere, or is the show just teasing us?
Will they cross paths again?
Short version: still a question mark. The show is definitely hinting at something, but there’s no promise of romance — or even a guaranteed reunion — on the table yet. What we do have is a ticking clock. AMC has already said Season 4 will be the final run for this series, so if the writers want to explore that spark, they’re running out of runway. Given how Episode 6 positions Antonio in Carol’s orbit, I wouldn’t be shocked if he pops back up before the curtain falls.
The deeper-cut connection Carol keeps nudging
There’s also a bigger thread that could bring Antonio back if Carol’s European storyline starts weaving in familiar faces from across The Walking Dead world. Earlier this season, Carol dropped this line:
'a friend whose brother lived in Barcelona'
A lot of viewers think that friend is Rick Grimes, and the brother is Jeffrey. For long-time fans, that’s a pretty specific nod — and it would neatly tie Carol’s Europe arc to wider franchise lore. If the show goes there, it makes Antonio’s return even more likely.
For now, the Carol/Antonio energy is firmly in the maybe column. The episode gave us the look, the personal backstory, and the shower oops — now it’s on the show to decide whether to light the fuse.
