The company went all-in with an audacious sweetener: it would publish GTA 6.

Rockstar moved GTA 6 again. Devolver Digital noticed. And they are absolutely not letting go of the bit.

The gravity of a Rockstar release

When Rockstar drops something massive like GTA or Red Dead Redemption, everyone else quietly slides their games out of the blast zone. It is not just superstition. These launches vacuum up money, attention, and oxygen. Even Hideo Kojima has danced around it: he said he wanted a September release window for Death Stranding 2, but it landed in June instead. Nobody has confirmed that was to avoid GTA 6, but given GTA 6 was once aimed at late 2025, you can draw your own conclusions.

Devolver keeps poking the bear

Devolver Digital — the proudly chaotic publisher behind Hotline Miami, Enter the Gungeon, Cult of the Lamb, and Inscryption — has been promising all year to ship a game on the exact same day GTA 6 lands. Not a window. The day.

Every time Rockstar nudges the date, Devolver updates the dare. When GTA 6 slipped to May 2026, Devolver shot back: 'You can't escape us. May 26, 2026 it is then.' Now Rockstar has pushed the game another six months to November, and Devolver immediately echoed it: 'You can't escape us. November 19, 2026 it is then.'

They also tossed in a heckle under Rockstar's delay news: 'DO YOU NEED A PUBLISHER TO GET THIS THING BACK ON TRACK? DMs are open. Our work on BALL x PIT speaks for itself.' Is Devolver actually offering to publish GTA 6? Of course not. It's a joke — and a good one — but also the kind of industry-nerd flex only Devolver would try in public.

What moved where, and when

  • GTA 6 was originally targeted for late 2025.
  • It was delayed to May 26, 2026.
  • Now it is delayed again to November 19, 2026.
  • Each time, Devolver vowed to launch a Devolver game that same day, repeating: 'You can't escape us.'

Meanwhile, the corporate line

On the executive side, Take-Two's CEO — who had previously called another GTA 6 delay unlikely — is leaning on familiar talking points after this latest slip. The gist: taking more time is better than forcing it out the door, and the new date is solid.

'Bad things happen' when games are rushed... 'I'm highly confident on the new date.'

Bottom line: November 19, 2026 just became one of those dates everyone else might want to avoid. Unless you're Devolver, in which case... see you there.
