Never say never, they say.

Summary

  • Timotheé Chalamet hasn't been a part of a superhero franchise yet, thanks to DiCaprio's early advice.
  • The young actor became an actor thanks to a superhero movie and thinks he would consider acting in one.
  • Chalamet has played a variety of characters over the years.

We're just one day away from the release of Part 2 of Denis Villeneuve's adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune. Needless to say, millions of epic sci-fi story fans are on the edge of their seats, and for good reason.

From the thrilling space opera to the mesmerizing CGI and certainly the cast led by Timotheé Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Florence Pugh, Austin Butler and the legendary Christopher Walken, Dune: Part Two has a lot to offer audiences. It will continue to follow Chalamet's Duke Paul Atreides in his fight against the hegemony of House Harkonnen. Naturally, the movie features the actor in many action scenes, which he nails just like he did in the first installment.

Considering Timotheé Chalamet's acting skills, many people would like to see him in a superhero movie one day. However, the actor has resisted such roles so far, following the advice Leonardo DiCaprio once gave him. But according to Chalamet, he wouldn't mind starring in a superhero movie under one condition.

A Good Movie Is a Good Movie

In a recent interview with The New York Times, Timotheé Chalamet recalled that Leonardo DiCaprio once gave him two rules to succeed as an actor: 'No superhero movies, no hard drugs.'

The young actor said he has stuck to those rules so far, but he also had to admit that it was Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight that inspired him to pursue acting in the first place. As a result, Chalamet isn't ready to dismiss the idea of starring in a superhero movie.

'If the script was great, if the director was great, I'd have to consider it,' the actor added.

Timotheé Chalamet's Career

Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight debuted in 2008 and turned twelve-year-old Timotheé's world upside down. Apparently, the future Dune star was so inspired that he landed his first acting gig a year later in an episode of Law & Order. After that, Chalamet had roles in Royal Pains and Homeland before working with his idol, Nolan, on Interstellar in 2013.

Since then, Timotheé Chalamet has starred in a number of popular films, from Love the Coopers (2015) and Call Me by Your Name (2017) to Greta Gerwig's Little Women (2019), the Dune duology (2021, 2024), and last year's Wonka reboot. As you can see, the actor has run the gamut of characters over the years. But who could he play in a superhero movie?

Perhaps if Marvel were to reboot the X-Men franchise, Timotheé Chalamet would make a perfect Nightcrawler or, for a tougher character, Cyclops. Alas, that's just our wishful thinking...

As for Dune: Part Two, it's set to premiere tomorrow, March 1.
