After Tate cozied up to Sophia for intel — and sealed it with a kiss — Leo Howard and Ashley Puzemis break down the fallout and whether Tate and Holly are truly done.

Teen romance on Days of Our Lives stays messy, and this latest Tate/Holly blow-up is peak soap logic. Tate tried to cozy up to Sophia for intel about the baby, took it way too far with a kiss, Sophia ran straight to Holly, and Holly responded with a satisfying punch and a breakup. So is that it for them? The actors behind the chaos, Leo Howard (Tate) and Ashley Puzemis (Holly), just weighed in — and it is not as simple as a clean split.

How it went sideways

According to Puzemis, things were actually going fine for Tate and Holly right up until Tate decided to play detective via Sophia. He crossed the line into cheating territory, and when Holly found out, she clocked him in the Brady Pub and walked. Puzemis told Soaps She Knows that the confrontation is one of her favorite scenes — partly because Holly thinks the punch was fully earned.

"It was just so left field because everything was going great. And then Tate decides to kiss Sophia to get information about the baby. I find out about it and just sock him in the Brady Pub. 'You deserve it!' But I think they’ve slept together again."

Inside baseball: the actor frustration is real

Howard is not defending Tate here. He says he was irritated reading the script — because as an actor, he has to believe Tate when he declares how much Holly means to him, and then the guy does something dumb and self-sabotaging. In his view, Tate deserved the punch.

What pushed Tate into this spiral? Howard points to desperation and grief. Tate is still torn up over giving up the child and got tunnel vision chasing any sliver of answers or connection. In that headspace, he made the wrong call and kissed Sophia. Not noble. Just dumb and impulsive.

Are they actually done?

Officially, Holly dumped him. Unofficially, Puzemis hints the two may have already fallen back into bed, which tells you the door is still cracked open. And there is a very soapy path to redemption on the table: if Tate can dig up and expose Sophia’s lies, he might be able to repair what he broke and win Holly back.

  • What happened: Tate kissed Sophia to pry info about the baby; Sophia told Holly; Holly punched Tate at the Brady Pub and broke up with him.
  • Where the actors land: Puzemis says the punch was deserved and loved playing the confrontation; Howard admits he was frustrated with Tate’s choice and agrees there’s no defending it.
  • Why Tate did it (per Howard): desperation for answers and unresolved grief over giving up the child clouded his judgment.
  • Status check: they’re broken up, but Puzemis suggests they may have hooked up again; redemption route likely runs through exposing Sophia’s lies.
