David Duchovny isn't exactly buying into the X-Files revival hype.

Mulder truthers, I get it — every few months the reunion whispers start back up. This time, David Duchovny himself chimed in. Short version: nothing is happening right now, but he is absolutely not closing the door. Just... nobody is getting younger.

Where things stand (for real)

Duchovny, 65, did an interview with Parade tied to his new poetry book, 'About Time: Poems.' When they asked about The X-Files coming back, the Golden Globe winner kept it blunt:

"I've got nothing. I'd be the first to tell you if I had anything, but I don't."

So no secret writers room, no stealth shoot, no hush-hush deal in the works. And as of now, 20th Century Studios hasn’t announced a revival either.

Would he do it?

Yes — if the stars align. He says he still loves the show and the people who made it, and he wouldn’t say no to revisiting Fox Mulder. The caveat is timing: it would need to make sense for everyone, and he’s realistic about the clock. His words boiled down: we’re not getting any younger, but he still loves that world.

Quick refresher on the franchise

  • The X-Files premiered in 1993, ran nine seasons, and wrapped in 2002.
  • It pulled off a surprise comeback in 2016 with a 10th season, then bowed out again in 2018 after season 11.
  • Beyond the series, the franchise has spawned two feature films and two spin-off shows.

The takeaway: there’s no movement right now, but Duchovny is game if the timing and team are right. If anything actually changes, he says he’d be the first to say so — which, frankly, is the most Mulder thing he could do.
