Daredevil: Born Again Leaps Ahead: Season 3 Writers Room Opens Five Months Before Season 2 Premieres
The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is gearing up for another round — Daredevil: Born Again season 3 is already in the works.
Marvel is moving fast on Daredevil: Born Again. Season 2 still hasn't dropped, but the show is already breaking story for Season 3. Wildly early? Sure. But it also means there's confidence in what's coming.
Season 3 is already cooking
Showrunner Dario Scardapane posted a writers room photo and a quick update from the trenches on Instagram, apologizing for skipping New York Comic Con because, well, he's busy writing Season 3.
"Bummed to miss New York Comicon but we're holding down the fort in the Daredevil Born Again Season 3 Writers Room. Yep, Season 3! Best bunch of maniacs I've ever worked with. Can't wait for y'all to see Season 2!"
This tracks with what Marvel Studios executive Brad Winderbaum (head of streaming, television, and animation) said last month: Matt Murdock will be back for a third season on Disney Plus, ending a whole lot of speculation about the character's future.
Season 2: what Marvel showed at NYCC
Marvel screened the first Season 2 trailer behind closed doors at New York Comic Con. Then it slipped online courtesy of Jessica Jones star Krysten Ritter. The footage teases a Defenders reunion between Matt and Jessica, which, yes, is the kind of crossover people have been waiting for since the Netflix days.
Executive producer Jesse Wigutow says the new season locks into a sharper creative lane:
"I think it's a singular vision in a way that season 1 is not. There is clarity of vision. The showrunner has been awesome and really has a point of view that we've executed on. Nothing's perfect, but I do think Season 2 is quite good, and I think it's going to be very satisfying."
New faces and the power shift
Krysten Ritter is back as Jessica Jones. Also joining the party: Matthew Lillard, playing a new antagonist named Mr. Charles. Winderbaum explained the bigger backdrop at NYCC: with Wilson Fisk not just serving as mayor of New York but operating like a kingpin on a global level, he's mixing with a higher class of international power players. Lillard's Mr. Charles represents that tier.
