Jocelyn is not alone in facing Tedros; she has a strong support system to fall back on.

Can you believe The Idol journey is coming to a close? Although it was initially thought that the series would consist of six episodes, it turns out the fifth episode is the season finale and it will air on 2 July. This will conclude a month of discussions, fan theories, controversies, and negative reviews. Will the finale be able to reshape how viewers perceive the show and explain some of the scenes deemed unnecessary? Da'Vine Joy Randolph says it will.

‘What you’ve seen up until now, it’s about to completely turn on its head,’ the actress who plays Destiny, the protagonist's manager, told TheWrap, also saying about the show's creator, Sam Levinson, ‘The man [created] Euphoria. You really think it’s gonna be surface and obvious? No, there’s a spin — there’s a huge, huge spin.’

Randolph also mentioned that the show's much-criticised over-sexualisation and explicitness will take on a new light and meaning. Seeing how the show's been centred on Lily-Rose Depp's troubled pop star Jocelyn and The Weeknd's cult leader character Tedros, the finale is bound to revolve around their arcs and relationship. However, Randolph's Destiny will also play a big role.

The actress stated that her character, having experience in the music industry, knows shady men like Tedros, can sense their sleazy intentions from a mile away, and knows how to handle them.

‘When this Tedros guy comes, she’s been there, done that. [...] The moment she sees him, [she knows] it’s bulls–t,’ Randolph said, adding. ‘Destiny is not all that worried, because she knows what to do when the time comes.’

As Jocelyn's chosen family and support system, the manager has been on top of the whole Tedros situation and has never let him out of her sight. According to Randolph, Destiny allowed the star to think she was acting freely and engaging with Tedros and his crew for a while, but she would never let anyone cross the line.

‘I’m gonna make you think that you’re doing your thing, and you’re having a blast and you have complete freedom, but the moment something truly goes left, I’m stepping in and shutting it,’ the actress explained.

It seems that's precisely what's set to happen in The Idol finale. When things get too crazy, Destiny will step in and take action. But how will it unfold, and what will be the outcome? Consider us intrigued.

The Idol finale will be available to watch on Max on 2 July, don’t miss it, it just might change everything.
