Crystal Lake Wraps: Welcome to Derry Showrunner Confirms Friday the 13th Spin-Off Is Complete

Camp is closed and the blades are sheathed: Crystal Lake has wrapped filming and now stalks into post-production, inching closer to its scare-filled debut.
Quick horror update: one long-in-the-works slasher prequel just hit a milestone, and another clown is about to float back onto TV. Let’s sort it out.
Crystal Lake just wrapped filming (yes, really)
Brad Caleb Kane, who is steering the IT prequel, says his other gig, Crystal Lake — the Friday the 13th prequel from A24 for Peacock — has finished its main shoot. He shared the news with a very enthusiastic Instagram post after the wrap party.
"CRYSTAL LAKE wrap party was epic! I'm madly in love with and totally in awe of this stellar bunch of artists and humans... S1 (almost sorta not quite) done and dusted. More please and thank you."
Translation: filming is done, post is underway, and they may still tweak a thing or two, but season 1 is in the can.
Here’s the headline detail fans will fixate on: Linda Cardellini is playing Pamela Voorhees, Jason’s mother. In the original 1980 movie, the big twist was that Pamela was the killer, avenging her son’s death after negligent counselors let him drown. This new series is described as a prequel, so it may remix the setup rather than retell that exact reveal — the show isn’t showing its cards yet.
Meanwhile, the clown returns this month
Kane’s other series, Welcome to Derry (the IT prequel based on Stephen King’s novel), lands on HBO on October 26. Kane is showrunning alongside Jason Fuchs, with Andy Muschietti back to direct multiple episodes and executive produce. Early word paints it as a confident, nasty return to Derry’s past that puts plenty of characters in danger, even if some of the scares tread familiar ground. Expect a 3-out-of-5 kind of vibe.
