Brace for a wait: Crunchyroll CEO just cooled expectations for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Parts 2 and 3, with the latest update signaling delays fans won’t like.

If you were hoping the next two Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle movies were right around the corner, brace yourself. Crunchyroll says the dates are still up in the air.

The franchise started as Koyoharu Gotouge's manga, then blew up with the anime in 2019. In June 2024, the team announced that the Infinity Castle arc would finish out as a trilogy of films. Part 1 landed in Japan on July 18, 2025 and hit US theaters on September 12, and it has been doing very well.

Crunchyroll CEO Rahul Purini told The Hollywood Reporter that, despite the first film's success, the follow ups are not on the calendar yet. He put it this way:

"Well, we have announced that it will be a trilogy of movies, but our partners at Aniplex and Ufotable haven't decided on dates yet. But look, there's definitely urgency for all of us to bring more Demon Slayer to fans as soon as we can - because we know the urgency is there among the fanbase."

Translation: they want to move fast, but the studios that actually make and release the films still have to lock it all down. Inside baseball note here: Ufotable animates Demon Slayer, while the release is split between companies and regions, which can slow scheduling. Sony Pictures handled the international rollout of Part 1 through Crunchyroll, including the US, and Aniplex and Toho released it in Japan.

Back in July 2025, Anime Rave floated a guess that Part 2 could arrive in 2027 and Part 3 in 2029. Purini did not confirm that, but his comment does suggest we might be waiting a bit before the next two movies show up.

For the creatives keeping score: Haruo Sotozaki directed the film, with a screenplay by Hikaru Kondo and other Ufotable staff. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is still playing in theaters right now.
