This was pretty obvious from the start, though.

While we still don't know what will happen to Jon Snow in the finale of George R. R. Martin's book series, HBO's Game of Thrones gave us a definitive (though somewhat ambiguous and disappointing) answer to that question. Fortunately, a Jon Snow-centered spin-off is reportedly in the works now, and even though it will not fix the GoT finale, it can at least explore the beloved character's story further in a more satisfying way.

The driving force behind the series is Kit Harrington, the original GoT actor, who also came up with the spin-off idea. But which of the other characters, apart from Jon himself, will be featured in the new series? In particular, many people are curious if Emilia Clarke would reprise her role as Daenerys Targaryen.

Although details about the new project are scarce, it will certainly continue the story of Jon after he returned to the Night's Watch in the GoT finale and traveled behind the Wall with the remaining Free Folk.

At last year's convention for the franchise, Harrington talked at length about his character's fate and the personal burden he'll have to carry for the rest of his life. This could mean that Jon will do a lot of reflecting in the spin-off, and we may get to see some flashbacks from GoT, including a cameo from Rose Leslie, who played Ygritte, Jon's love interest. But what about Daenerys?

Extra caught up with Emilia Clarke at the premiere of Secret Invasion and asked the actress about her possible involvement in Harrington's spin-off.

'I don't think so,' the actress said. She turned to Harrington and continued, 'Kit, I love you! I'm going to watch that one because of you, or I am gonna tell you I did.'

Unfortunately, it looks like Clarke's Daenerys is not going to be part of the upcoming Jon Snow story. Of course, this was pretty obvious already, considering that Clarke's character will long be dead in the spin-off timeline. However, she still could have a cameo appearance for a flashback scene, so it's really sad news the actress ruled out the possibility.
