Feathers fly again as Chicken Run: Eggstraction debuts a trailer for its top-down stealth-action adventure, continuing the escape saga on consoles and PC.

Thought Chicken Run wrapped with Dawn of the Nugget? Not quite. There is a new chapter out today, and this time you are the one sneaking the birds past the bad guys.

What it is

Outright Games and Aardman have launched Chicken Run: Eggstraction, a stealth action-adventure that picks up after the 2023 film Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget. It is available now worldwide on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store.

This is framed as an actual continuation of the story, not a throwaway tie-in. The tone aims for that Aardman mix of dry wit, charm, and danger, stretched into a full-length playable caper.

Who is in it

The game brings in a lineup of British talent: Bella Ramsey, Josie Sedgwick-Davies, Amelia Dimoldenberg, Romesh Ranganathan, Jane Horrocks, and more familiar voices pop up across the adventure. The script comes from Larry Rickard (Ghosts, Horrible Histories), which should tell you the humor and history-nerd timing are in good hands.

How it plays

You run operations with Frizzle, Molly, Fowler, and the rest of the flock, each bringing specific chicken skills and leadership perks to the mission. It supports two-player local co-op if you want a partner to help out with the sneaking and the shenanigans.

Levels range from the industrial Chump Factory to the maze-y Peckingham Manor. Stealth is the whole deal: throw on camouflage, knit decoys to mislead patrols, and, yes, literally launch a squadmate when chaos is the plan. Every mission leans on coordination and quiet feet to outsmart the ever-watchful Nugget Industry.

"We are incredibly proud to see Chicken Run: Eggstraction finally take flight today. This game is not only a continuation of Frizzle and the gang's story, but also a whole new way for the millions of people all over the world who have enjoyed the Chicken Run films to experience this unique world, full of charm, fun, and plenty of surprises."

- Sean Clarke, Managing Director at Aardman

From the early look, it reads like a family-friendly, top-down stealth caper, not a million miles from Klei's Invisible Inc in feel. Also nice to hear some returning voices back in the coop. If that sounds like your speed, it is out today on basically everything.
