Charlotte & George's Romance is Bridgerton's Best One So Far
The love story of Charlotte and George will be a tough act to follow for Bridgerton Season 3.
First we watched the steamy stolen moments between friends-to-lovers Daphne and Simon, then came the stubborn denial of feelings between Anthony and Kate that turned into a passionate romance, but before a third Bridgerton sibling love story, we were treated to the Queen Charlotte spin-off that took fans back in time for an unforgettable, unparalleled love tale.
The third installment in the Bridgeton franchise absolutely set the standard for Bridgeton couples with "the love story that changed the Ton".
Every romantic relationship in Bridgerton is unique in its own way, but there are so many things about Charlotte and George that can't help but earn it the top spot as far as romances go. It was gripping, it had emotional depth on another level, it was as passionate as it was tragic, and we still haven't gotten over it.
Firstly, their story felt the most emotional. Their love felt so real and genuine, and the actors had an insane chemistry that could have sent sparks flying off the screen, which made their passion all the more believable. Present-day Queen Charlotte has always come across as stern and authoritative, but to watch her younger self fall in love and allow herself to be vulnerable was eye-opening and we felt like we were on the journey with her.
Secondly, George's character was relatable for so many viewers. No matter what mental illness one may be struggling with, it is heartwarming and empowering to have it shown on screen, and watching Charlotte and George navigate his struggles together felt real and relatable to modern audiences. Additionally, the opportunity to watch an episode from George's perspective made it all the more intense and compelling.
Charlotte fought for George and refused to be pushed away or give up on him, showing the struggles of love and how a couple can come out stronger together, which is one of the best parts of their story, their love was far from perfect but they made it work, together.
The element of truth to their story made it both captivating and tragic. Viewers already know that George is not in the picture in the present, and the historical facts that inspired the Queen Charlotte spinoff were on our minds throughout every episode of the spinoff because it all felt real.
Whether fans are drawn to it because they feel seen in the story, or because their love story spanned so many years, or because of the tragic end to their beautiful romance, there's something about Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story that sets it apart from the rest and brings on the waterworks.
Will Penelope and Colin's Season 3 story top that? Will any Bridgerton story top it? We can only wait and see, and hope we get a 2023 release date for the upcoming season.
