Fresh off arranging the Wuthering Heights soundtrack, Charli XCX leaves the door open to 007, teasing she could craft the next Bond theme — never say never.

Charli XCX just wrapped a whole cultural moment with Brat Summer, but she clearly has gas left in the tank. Now her name is floating around a very specific internet daydream: what if she did the next James Bond theme?

So, is Charli actually doing a Bond song?

Short answer: no. Longer answer: she is not ruling it out, and she’s pretty funny about it. On SiriusXM’s The Julia Cunningham Show, Charli was asked if she’d take a swing at the 007 theme for the next film, which trade chatter has linked to Denis Villeneuve.

"I got to say, I don’t think that I am built for that. I think I probably sing with too much AutoTune to do a James Bond. Never say never. I’m open to it if they want to call me... Barbara, call me."

That’s classic Charli: self-deprecating, a little chaotic, and still leaving the door cracked open. For the record, she’s already in the film-music lane and very comfortable there, and she’s been getting plenty of Grammy attention. A Bond theme wouldn’t be a left turn, it’d just be a bigger stage.

Why Charli would fit the 007 lineage

Bond themes are a flex. They tend to swing between glossy pop and moody torch songs, and they usually go to artists who can make a statement in one track. Historically, we’re talking:

Charli’s not the obvious torch-ballad pick, but a neon, clubby Bond track could actually be fun. And let’s be honest: the franchise has room for a shake-up in the song department.

Meanwhile, on the 007 casting board...

The other live-fire rumor: Jacob Elordi. Whispers have him meeting with Villeneuve and Amazon MGM Studios, with Showbiz 411’s Roger Friedman claiming Amazon really wants him. No deals, no offers, and he’d still have to screen test, but if it happened he’d be the youngest Bond ever. Also worth noting: even if the studio has a favorite, the director and the Bond brain trust (hi, Barbara Broccoli) get a big say. Nothing is locked.

Charli’s screen moment is still happening

On top of all this, Charli just popped up in The Moment, a satirical, self-aware spin on the whole Brat Summer phenomenon that premiered at Sundance this year. She’s also been busy on the soundtrack side, including a recent collaboration tied to Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights.

Bottom line: Charli’s not campaigning for the Bond song, but she’s not closing the door either. If the phone rings, she’ll pick up. And if Elordi’s name keeps coming up, there’s probably a reason. Your move, Barbara.

Would you want a Charli XCX Bond theme or do you prefer the classic croon? And how do we feel about a younger 007? Sound off.
