They deserve at least one nomination.

On January 23, it was announced who will be competing for this year's top cinematic prize. Among the leaders in the number of Oscar nominations are the musicals Emilia Pérez and Wicked and the dramas The Brutalist and Conclave.

However, the academics still ignored several excellent films. We tell you which movies were left without a single Oscar nomination.

1. The Outrun, 2024

The adaptation of Amy Liptrot's autobiographical novel is a film for which Saoirse Ronan was predicted to win or at least be nominated for an Oscar.

The movie takes place on the Orkney Islands, northeast of Scotland. This is where the main character, Rona, was born and raised. She returns there after several years in London, where she began to abuse alcohol and was forced to seek professional help. Surrounded by wild nature, the woman hopes to recover.

2. Challengers, 2024

The biggest surprise was the film's absence from the Best Original Score nominations. Two-time Oscar winners Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross were considered favorites in the music category.

The story revolves around three tennis players: promising athlete Tashi and best friends Art and Patrick. Tashi dates Patrick, but after a serious injury, she quits the sport, marries Art and becomes his mentor.

At the next tournament, Patrick and Art face off on the court, and off the court, Tashi tries to figure out her personal life.

3. All We Imagine as Light, 2024

The absence of the Indian drama All We Imagine as Light in the international category is surprising. The film won the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for two Golden Globes: Best Director and Best Foreign Language Film.

The plot of the movie revolves around two Indian women working as nurses in Mumbai. Prabha was married by arrangement, but her husband left to earn money in Europe and barely communicates with her, and Anu is secretly dating a Muslim, which is condemned.

4. Babygirl, 2024

The absence of Nicole Kidman in the acting category is also a big surprise. It was her role in Babygirl that earned her the Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival and later a Golden Globe nomination.

On screen, Kidman has turned into a successful businesswoman. At home, her husband, a theater director, and two daughters are waiting for her. But when a young intern, Samuel, shows up at the office, Romy succumbs to temptation and plunges headlong into a new relationship.

5. Juror #2, 2024

Clint Eastwood is not slowing down: last year, the multiple Oscar winner released the courtroom drama Juror #2. On Rotten Tomatoes, the movie has a 92% rating from critics and a 91% rating from viewers.

The story centers on an ordinary journalist, Justin Kemp, who must fulfill his civic duty as a juror in a murder trial. In the dock is the boyfriend of the deceased.

Before her death, the woman had argued with him in a bar in front of dozens of people and left, but the guy followed her. The result seems obvious, but Justin was also in the bar that night.
