Chainsaw Man Season 2: What MAPPA’s Reze Arc Remarks Really Mean

Chainsaw Man isn’t slowing down. After the breakout success of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, season 2 is reportedly already revving up at MAPPA, primed to take the anime phenomenon to even wilder heights.
Spoiler alert: mild manga spoilers ahead.
Chainsaw Man is not slowing down. After the Reze arc movie lit up Japan, all signs point to Season 2 quietly moving forward — and yeah, it sounds like a wait.
So, where is Season 2?
Here’s the current state of play: a few reliable industry watchers say Season 2 is already in production. Officially, though, MAPPA and the anime’s creative leads haven’t announced anything concrete yet. If we’re getting a date (or even a window), the next Jump Festa is the likeliest place to hear it.
Timing-wise, brace yourself. It took almost three years for the Bomb Devil/Reze arc to arrive as a movie after Season 1. If the series keeps that pace, Season 2 probably won’t land before 2027. Not ideal, but consistent.
On the plus side, MAPPA’s track record speaks for itself. Between Jujutsu Kaisen’s production cadence and how cleanly Chainsaw Man has been adapted so far, the franchise is being handled with care. The studio knows the audience is there — and they’re going to use it.
Worth noting: the movie’s age restriction cut out a chunk of the potential audience (under-18 fans couldn’t even buy a ticket in theaters), but Reze still pulled strong numbers in Japan and across Asia. In other words, the heat is real.
Reze sets the table for a brutal Season 2
The Reze arc is a sharp reminder of what this series actually is: Denji’s heart is just collateral to basically everyone. What people really want is Pochita — the Chainsaw Devil’s heart — and Reze’s storyline drives that home in a very loud, very bloody way. Any glimmer of normalcy for Denji? Snuffed out. Efficiently.
"Season 2 starts with hitmen from everywhere gunning for Denji, and it only escalates from there."
That opener is the International Assassins arc — the fallout from Reze’s actions, which basically put a giant target on the Chainsaw Devil’s back. After that, the story barrels toward two names you’ve heard since Season 1: the Gun Devil (finally), and the Control Devil. Those arcs, together with International Assassins, wrap up Part 1 of the manga.
For scope: Season 1 covered the first 38 chapters. There are roughly 44 chapters left in Part 1, which makes it very possible that Season 2 could finish the rest in one go. If that happens, expect a season that starts chaotic and ends devastating.
Quick hits: the movie and what’s next

The bottom line
Reze’s story kept the momentum going and widened the blast radius. Next up is a gauntlet of assassins, the long-teased Gun Devil finally stepping into the light, and an endgame that hurts. If you thought the movie was peak Chainsaw Man, Season 2 is lining up to be louder, meaner, and very hard to shake.
