From theaters to your queue, the Chainsaw Man movie could be cutting into streaming sooner than you think—here’s the likely window and where it might land first.

Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc is finally rolling into theaters, which is great if you like big screens and buckets of soda. If you were hoping to stream it from the couch like the TV season on Crunchyroll, I have one answer right now: theaters or nothing.

So when does it hit streaming?

The movie opens in cinemas on October 24. That alone pushes any streaming plans into next year. Even the old-fashioned 90-day theatrical window lands you in late January, and anime films usually take longer because of licensing and release strategies. Also, this is expected to make respectable money for an anime movie. It probably won’t sniff Demon Slayer-level numbers, but it should perform well enough that no one is rushing it to a platform.

Crunchyroll’s recent approach backs that up. Their EVP of global commerce, Mitchel Berger, told Popverse this about Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle:

"Go see [Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle] in the theater because the theater is the only place you're going to be able to see this film in 2025."

Different franchise, same distributor logic. Unless Crunchyroll publicly changes course, don’t expect Reze Arc to pop up on any streaming service in 2025.

The realistic window

If you’re looking for an actual timeframe for Crunchyroll: think early-to-mid 2026. My read, based on recent patterns (and yes, the way films like Attack on Titan: The Last Attack took more than just a few months to arrive), is Q1 or Q2 2026. April or May 2026 feels like a fair, grounded guess. That gives theaters plenty of room, lets international rollouts breathe, and clears whatever licensing hurdles usually slow these down.

  • Theatrical release: October 24
  • No streaming in 2025 (barring a surprise policy shift)
  • Standard 90-day window would be late Jan 2026, but anime films often hold longer
  • Expected streaming home: Crunchyroll
  • Best guess: April–May 2026 (Q1–Q2 2026 overall)
  • Only way to watch right now: go to a theater

Short version: if you want to see Reze and Denji’s chaotic courtship before spring 2026, buy a ticket. If Crunchyroll flips the plan, I’ll update, but don’t bet on it.
