Chainsaw Man carved up the box office, and stars Alexis Tipton and Ryan Colt Levy are saluting the fans who made it happen. The duo credit the franchise’s diehards for powering the film’s big-screen surge.

Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc just carved its way to the top of the U.S. box office, and the actors behind Denji and Reze are understandably riding the high. The short version: big debut, big gratitude, and yes, a deadly barista.

The weekend win

Released on October 24, the film opened at #1 in the U.S. and pulled in $18.2 million domestically over the weekend. Worldwide, it blasted up to $108 million, outpacing The Black Phone 2 and the Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere. That is a lot of chainsaw screaming for late October.

The cast is celebrating

Alexis Tipton (Reze) and Ryan Colt Levy (Denji) both hopped online to thank fans after the weekend surge. Tipton was thrilled at how many people connected with the movie and made a point of saying the team poured their hearts into it. Levy called it one of the best weekends of his life and gave a few behind-the-scenes shout-outs, including to Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures for shepherding the release, and to AMC Theatres and Cinemark for making their theater drop-ins a blast. He posted the extended thank-yous on October 27, 2025.

"Seeing this film get so much love across the board has been a dream come true for all of us."

What the movie actually covers

Director Tatsuya Yoshihara adapts Tatsuki Fujimoto's manga volumes 5 and 6, working from a script by Hiroshi Seko (Jujutsu Kaisen 0). The story throws Denji into maybe his most emotionally loaded and flat-out dangerous fight yet after he meets Reze, a charming cafe worker with a not-at-all-charming secret. Kikunosuke Toya voices Denji in Japan; Tipton and Levy lead the cast as Reze and Denji in this release.

How it is playing with critics

GamesRadar+ landed at 4 out of 5, digging the unexpectedly tender romantic thread and the full-throttle gore. As of now, the movie is sitting at a 100% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. That will likely shift as more reviews come in, but the early wave is very positive.
