Liam Hemsworth certainly has his work cut out.

Henry Cavill was a huge success as Geralt of Rivia, and his performance is one that will make things particularly difficult for Liam Hemsworth, who is taking over the role. Hemsworth will have to make sure that he puts his own stamp on the character and doesn't simply try to replicate what Henry Cavill brought to the role.

Especially as these 5 epic scenes suggest that the show will struggle to survive without its departing star:

5. Cavill's final battle

There were many occasions when Cavill played a lone warrior taking on several opponents at once. It was one of the things that made him such a compelling hero to watch. This final battle was one that we knew was coming, and it felt a little over-choreographed at times. But it's the last time we'll see Henry Cavil strutting his stuff and he gave us another sublime performance.

4. Saving Duny

This was a defining moment for the character and the show. When Geralt saved Duny's life, he lifted his curse and completely changed the direction of his life. It was a scene that demanded a flawless performance. And Henry Cavill delivered.

3. Family Life

Geralt was more than just an excellent fighter and a brooding hero. He also became a family man. This was a central part of his character development and it was nice to see some of his domestic life in season 3. Putting these scenes in a montage meant we were reliant on actions and expressions to convey the family's happy times together. And the quality of the acting meant that we got the whole story across quickly, without things feeling shoehorned in.

2. Saying goodbye to Roach

We knew this moment would come, but it was a sad one, and one that no doubt led to a few tears being shed in viewers' homes. What made it so powerful were Geralt's final words to his beloved companion. These were written by Cavill and it was clear from his performance that they came from the heart.

1. His first big fight

The battle in Blaviken announced Geralt of Rivia on the scene. And it also showed what Henry Cavill would bring to the role. Seemingly backed into a corner, he came out fighting and destroyed Renfri's men with relative ease. It was a powerful display of skill, bravery and controlled aggression that defined Henry Cavill's Geralt and will be a tough act to follow.
