The classic trio of bacon, sausages and baked beans roars back, promising a fuss-free breakfast crowd-pleaser that will win over the whole family.

Here is the plate that actually earns the word breakfast. The full English is hearty, balanced, and a bit of a show-off with all those textures and colors. Save it for a weekend morning, brew something strong, and build it piece by piece. Classic lineup: bacon, sausages, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, toast, and beans. Simple moves, big payoff.

What you need (2 servings)

  • Pork bacon – 4 slices (about 100 g)
  • Pork sausages – 4 (about 200 g)
  • Eggs – 4
  • Fresh tomatoes – 2 medium (about 200 g)
  • Fresh button mushrooms – 150 g
  • Baked beans in tomato sauce – 200 g
  • White sandwich bread – 4 slices
  • Butter – 30 g
  • Vegetable oil – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Ground black pepper – a pinch
  • Fresh parsley – a few sprigs for serving

Method

Start with the toast. Heat a skillet, swipe it with a thin film of vegetable oil, and toast the bread on both sides until golden. While it is hot, spread each slice with a thin layer of butter.

In a separate pan, cook the bacon over medium heat until crisp, about 3–4 minutes per side. Move the bacon to a warm plate and keep the rendered fat in the pan. Use that fat to brown the sausages all over until they pick up a deep, even color, then transfer them to the bacon.

Add a touch of vegetable oil to the same pan if it looks dry. Sauté sliced mushrooms for 3–4 minutes until golden. Slide in the tomatoes, halved and cut side down, and sear for 2–3 minutes until soft and fragrant.

Cook the eggs your way: fried or classic sunny-side up works well. About 3–4 minutes over medium heat usually does it. Season with salt and a pinch of black pepper.

Warm the baked beans in a small saucepan or skillet over gentle heat until hot.

Plate it

For each plate: set down one buttered toast, add two bacon slices, one sausage, a spoonful of mushrooms, the tomato halves, one egg, and a spoon of beans. Finish with fresh parsley.

Heads-up on portions: the ingredient list is built for 4 sausages and 4 eggs across 2 plates, while the plating note above lands at 1 sausage and 1 egg per person. Choose your build based on appetite.
