Brilliant Minds went out for winter break with a one-two punch: it finally tipped its hand on what Charlie has been up to, and it put a fan favorite in a terrifying car crash. Now Brian Altemus, who plays the very charming, very schemey Dr. Charlie Porter, is weighing in on whether Michelle makes it out of that wreck and how this all ricochets through the hospital.
So... is Michelle dead?
Short answer: they are not saying. Altemus, 28, told TV Insider he could not reveal Michelle's fate, but he did tease how her accident shakes up the people around her.
"Exactly that. The show does a great job of handling conflict and showing compassion through conflict, and there's an incredible amount of compassion saying, 'Hey, I know things aren't good between us right now, but we really have to be there for something bigger than what's going on between us.'"
In other words, expect the in-house feuds to go on pause. He noted that even with personal vendettas simmering, these characters chose a profession built on care, and when someone they love is in danger, they are going to show up and put the drama aside.
What actually happens in the fall finale
Episode 10 puts Michelle (Stacey Farber) on the fence about attending a gala until Van finally talks her into it. On the way there, she gets into a serious car crash. We do not see a tidy resolution, because of course we do not. The episode ends with her fate very much up in the air.
Charlie vs. Dr. Wolf, quietly escalating
The hour also peels back some of Charlie Porter's hidden motivations and his positioning opposite Dr. Oliver Wolf. Altemus kept specifics close to the vest, but the episode makes it pretty clear Charlie is not just stirring the pot for fun. There is a plan here, and it is not exactly friendly to Wolf.
When do we find out what happened?
The show is on hiatus. Brilliant Minds returns on January 5, when we finally get the fallout from Michelle's near-death cliffhanger.
