Brie Larson just poured fuel on Marvel’s rumor mill. Asked on The View if she’ll return as Carol Danvers in Avengers: Doomsday, the Captain Marvel star smiled and deflected: Thank you for asking, and you know I can’t answer.

Brie Larson is doing the Marvel thing again: answering a question without really answering it, and somehow making everyone talk more. Add a new haircut that looks suspiciously familiar, a theme park photo op, and some very convenient UK timing, and yeah, the speculation machine is humming.

The non-answer tour

On The View, Larson got asked point-blank if she is back as Carol Danvers for Avengers: Doomsday. Her reply was the kind of polite brick wall Marvel actors are trained to build:

"Thank you for asking, and you know I can't answer."

That tracks with what she said at the 2024 SAG Awards when Extra asked about her next Marvel project: "I don't have anything to say about that." Translation: not talking. Which, of course, only makes fans think she knows exactly what is going on.

The hair, the park, the timing

While staying quiet about the movie stuff, Larson did show up on Instagram and on The View with a grown-out pixie cut. It is very close to her Avengers: Endgame look. Could be nothing. Could be everything.

Then there is the travel log. She recently visited Universal's Epic Universe and posed near a Captain Marvel-flavored display that literally said "Danvers" and "Avenge." Subtle, it is not. Fans immediately started connecting dots. Add in that she has wrapped a UK stage run of Elektra and is expected at Comic Con Liverpool in November, and you start to see why people are reading tea leaves. The kicker: Avengers: Doomsday is said to kick off filming in the UK around that same window. Convenient, right?

What people are saying Avengers: Doomsday is right now

That is the package making the rounds. As always with Marvel, assume moving targets until the studio puts it in a trailer.

Should Carol be in it?

Short answer: yeah, probably. Leaving Captain Marvel out of an Avengers movie at this point would feel like pulling a key piece from the board. Carol has already been the heavy hitter in past team-up fights, and if the big bad really is Doctor Doom (as the chatter suggests), having her show up as a late-game 'secret weapon' would land.

There is also unfinished business. The Marvels ended with Carol trying to help Monica Rambeau find her way home, which is a very easy thread to weave into a crossover plot. And given The Marvels did not exactly crush the box office, Doomsday would be a clean runway for a proper redemption arc that lets Larson play the leadership, the power, and the human stuff in one go. Not using that would feel like leaving points on the table.

So what is actually happening?

Larson is not confirming anything. Her haircut looks a lot like Carol circa Endgame. She took a very on-the-nose photo near a 'Danvers' and 'Avenge' display. She has UK commitments, and the movie is rumored to shoot there around the same time. You can call that coincidence. You can also call it a studio-sized wink. Either way, the odds of Captain Marvel being done with the MCU feel slim.

Avengers: Doomsday is currently pegged for December 18, 2026. If you want Carol in the lineup, say so below.
