Bridgerton Season 3 Risks Repeating The Witcher's Biggest Mistake
Surely Netflix wouldn't do this to Bridgerton fans?
It's been well over a year since the release of Bridgerton season 2, and with the third season finally feeling within reach, fans are fearing that it may still be a while before they get to see the next Bridgerton love story play out in full.
This comes after Netflix's changes to their release timelines, with the streaming giant moving away from binge-able releases to weekly episode releases and worse.
The Witcher recently made its long-awaited return to our screens with a third season that was dramatic, action-packed, and ... incomplete. Fans were able to watch five episodes of season 3, before being left on a cruel cliffhanger, and made to wait almost a month for the 'second volume' of the third season.
The same was done to YOU, with a season split intended to build tension and anticipation that simply did not work. For both The Witcher and YOU, the split left the events of the season feeling divided, and any build-up felt lost.
Now fans are questioning if this split is going to be implemented in other upcoming Netflix releases, like Bridgerton.
Bridgerton season 2, which followed the story of Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma, was released in March 2022, and subsequently binged by eager fans all at once. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story was released in May, with all 6 episodes available at once for fans to dive into.
After waiting so long for season 3, fans are more than ready to spend hours and hours binging the much anticipated third installment, but this might not be an option. Fans online are speculating more and more that after waiting so long for Bridgerton season 3, they are not going to get it all at once.
One of the best parts about Bridgerton is the binge factor, which allows fans to immerse themselves in the story and experience the chaos, drama, and glamor of Bridgerton without missing a beat. Putting a split through the middle of Bridgerton season 3 would kill off some of the magic and excitement, and quite frankly, fans are done waiting.
The split is feeling more and more like Netflix attempting to reap the benefits of network TV for viewership reports and numbers, building up audience anticipation to stay relevant. This split was not well received by fans when it came to YOU or The Witcher, and we can only hope that they will not make the mistake of splitting Bridgerton as well.
If the split was a failure even for the highly anticipated The Witcher (with all the scandal surrounding Henry Cavill's departure from the series), it would certainly be a disaster for Bridgerton. The third season has taken long enough to be released, and making fans wait even longer to see the season through to the ending is just asking for trouble.
