As Liam and Hope race toward a second-chance wedding on The Bold and the Beautiful, the real wildcard is Douglas. With Thomas still in play, their fragile reunion could implode before the vows.

Hope and Liam are gearing up to say 'I do' again on The Bold and the Beautiful, and yes, it looks romantic. But the real tension might be coming from the kid standing right there at the ceremony: Douglas. Not because he is a bad kid, but because his feelings, and Thomas hovering in the background, make this a powder keg.

Why fans are eyeing Douglas in all this

Viewers are rooting for Hope and Liam to patch things up, and Douglas is front and center to watch them do it. The worry is that the honeymoon phase could be short, not because Douglas means harm, but because he is tied to both Hope and Thomas in ways that complicate everything. And Thomas is still very much in the picture, whether Liam likes it or not.

The backstory in one quick pass

Here is how we got here, trimmed to the essentials:

  • After Douglas lost his mom, Caroline, to a blood clot, Hope stepped in as a mother figure and eventually adopted him.
  • She and Thomas initially shared custody.
  • Thomas lost custody at one point, later regained it, and ultimately moved to Paris with Douglas.

Two ways this marriage could get messy

Option one: the classic kid-of-divorced-parents scenario. Plenty of kids secretly want their parents back together, and fans think Douglas might be one of them. If he starts nudging Thomas back toward Hope, even innocently, that sets up a triangle where Liam is the odd man out. He has been there before and did not love it.

Option two: Douglas behaves perfectly... and it still blows up. Liam has never trusted Thomas and hates that Thomas remains tethered to Hope through Douglas. Even if Douglas does nothing wrong, he could end up as a walking reminder that Thomas will always be part of Hope's world. Liam has a history of jealousy flaring up over exactly this dynamic, so the friction does not need Douglas to actually stir anything to become a problem.

Where this leaves Liam and Hope

Best-case scenario, everyone plays nice and Liam makes peace with Douglas being a permanent bridge to Thomas. Worst case, either Douglas quietly roots for a Hope-and-Thomas reunion, or Liam resents Douglas simply for existing in that role. Either way, the marriage starts on shaky ground.

So yes, bring on the vows. But I would not bet the house on smooth sailing, not with Thomas in Paris yet still orbiting and Douglas caught right in the middle.
