The 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards lit up KBS Hall on November 19, 2025, turning the spotlight on Kim Doyeon, Hyun Bin, and Son Ye-jin in a landmark night for Korean cinema. Organized by Sports Chosun, the ceremony reaffirmed its status as one of South Korea’s most prestigious film honors.

Big night in Seoul. The 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards took over KBS Hall on November 19, 2025, and the show delivered a genuinely rare moment: a married couple sweeping Best Actor and Best Actress. On top of that, a rookie who started as an idol walked away with a major trophy, and Park Chan Wook quietly kept padding a ridiculous career stat line.

Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin make Blue Dragon history

For the first time since the Blue Dragons launched in 1963, a married couple won the two top acting prizes in the same year. Hyun Bin took Best Actor for 'Harbin', and Son Ye-jin snagged Best Actress for 'No Other Choice'. That is not a thing that happens. Ever. Until now.

Hyun Bin, yes, the 'Crash Landing on You' star, opened his speech by saluting those who have devoted themselves to protecting the country, then thanked his director, cast, and crew. He also turned the night into a family moment with a line that had the room melting:

'Ye-jin, who gives me strength just by existing, our son, I love you and thank you.'

Hours earlier on the carpet, when a reporter joked about which spouse should win if only one trophy could be given, he deadpanned: 'I want to win.' It aged pretty well.

Son Ye-jin’s win landed with some perspective. She first won Blue Dragon Best Actress at 27 for 'My Wife Got Married'; now, past 40 and after becoming a mom, she picked it up again for 'No Other Choice'.

'I received the Blue Dragon Best Actress Award at age 27, and now, over 40, I’ve won it again. Becoming a mother changed how I view the world. I want to be a good adult and a good actor.'

Kim Doyeon’s breakout, delivered with real emotion

Best New Actress went to Kim Doyeon for a two-title year: 'Idiot Girls' and 'School Ghost: School Anniversary'. That split credit is a little unusual, and she seemed genuinely stunned on stage. She thanked the teams who kept spirits up even shooting through winter, said the award will be fuel for what comes next, and promised to keep thinking, reflecting, and not hesitating. She also nodded to where she started:

'I made my debut as an idol. There are many fans who liked to see me sing and dance on stage, but thank you for always supporting me acting.'

Doyeon first acted in the 2018 web drama 'Short' and has popped up since as younger versions of leads in series like 'My Roommate Is a Gumiho', 'One the Woman', and 'Jirisan'.

'No Other Choice' dominates, Park Chan Wook adds another feather

'No Other Choice' led the night with six wins: Best Picture, Best Director (Park Chan Wook), Best Actress (Son Ye-jin), Best Supporting Actor (Lee Sung Min), Best Music (Jo Yeong Wook), and Best Technical Achievement (Cho Sang Gyeong). That Best Director trophy is Park Chan Wook’s fourth Blue Dragon win, following 'Joint Security Area: JSA', 'Oldboy', and 'Decision to Leave'. Consistency at a scary level.

Other standouts you should know about

Park Ji Hyun picked up Best Supporting Actress for 'Hidden Face'. 'My Daughter Is a Zombie' won the Audience Choice Award after drawing over 5 million viewers. And the Popular Star Awards went to Lim Yoona, Park Jinyoung, Son Ye-jin, and Hyun Bin. Not exactly a quiet year.
