Blizzard Dusts Off StarCraft Just to Push Diablo 4 Cosmetics

Blizzard drops fresh Diablo 4 cosmetics—and gives StarCraft loyalists the clearest sign yet they haven’t been forgotten.
Blizzard is mashing StarCraft into Diablo 4 this week. Not with Zerglings swarming Sanctuary (calm down), but with a store-load of themed cosmetics, a new mount, and a handful of free claims and Twitch drops. It all goes live September 26 at 12pm PDT, and yes, it mostly costs money. Also yes, it does feel a bit like Blizzard waving a flag that says: we still know what StarCraft is.
When it starts, and what you have to pay for
The crossover hits the Diablo 4 in-game shop on September 26 at 12pm PDT with class-specific cosmetic packs for every class (all six of them), plus a new mount and a companion. Everything in this section is paid:
- Barbarian: The Rebel Marshal armor set; A Friend in Low Places sword skin
- Druid: Heaven's Devil armor set; Flesh Grenade weapon skin
- Necromancer: Overqueen of the Swarm armor; Baneling Roll weapon skin
- Rogue: Dark Prelate armor; Nezarim Warp Blade skin; Currents of the Void marking
- Sorcerer: High Templar armor set; Khaydarin Pylon weapon skin; Era of the Executor marking
- Spiritborn: Queen of Blades armor set; Chrysalis weapon skin; Wings of the Reborn Queen back trophy
On top of that: the Zergling Rush mount (with matching mount armor) and a new companion called Foe to Friend. Again, these are paid items.
Free stuff (yes, there is some)
There are a few 'free gifts' rolling out day by day, and they unlock at the same time the store update goes live: 12pm PDT. They are not as flashy as the paid bundles, but free is free.
- September 26, 12pm PDT: claim the Ancient of the Void emblem and the Arm of the Purifier mace skin.
- September 27, 12pm PDT: the Forward unto Dominion emblem and the Heat of Char polearm skin go live.
- September 28, 12pm PDT: the Teeming Brood emblem and the Parasite Spitter crossbow skin are up for grabs.
Twitch drops window
From September 26 through October 10, you can also snag StarCraft-themed emblems by watching Diablo 4 streams on Twitch. The more you watch, the more you get:
- Watch 2 hours: Forward unto Dominion emblem.
- Watch 4 hours: Ancient of the Void emblem.
- Watch 6 hours: Teeming Brood emblem.
That October 10 date also looks like the end of the crossover window and your last chance to pick up anything you missed.
So... StarCraft 3 when?
It has been 15 years since StarCraft 2, and there is still no concrete sign of a StarCraft 3 in the works. This crossover is not that. It is cosmetics and trinkets. Think of it as a small peace offering to a community that would really like an actual game announcement. Still, if you live in both worlds (RTS heart, ARPG habit), these skins are a slick nod to a series Blizzard hasn’t forgotten — even if it feels like they only text back every few years.
