BFF Goals! Taylor Swift's Relationship with Dylan O'Brien Explained
It turns out they're big fans of each other.
All Too Well: The Short Film (2021) is Taylor Swift's personal project, starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O'Brien as a romantic couple (along with Taylor herself) and set against the 10-minute version of the singer's eponymous song. The film achieved considerable success, earning the Best Music Video award at this year's Grammys, in addition to a number of other prestigious accolades.
It doesn't seem surprising that Swift chose O'Brien to play in her filmmaking debut.
Of course, according to Swift, Sadie and Dylan were the only people she could imagine playing those characters, but how did she arrive at that conclusion?
In part, this was because Swift and O'Brien have perhaps the best possible relationship among celebrities — and no, their relationship has nothing to do with romance.
As it happens, Taylor Swift and Dylan O'Brien are huge fans of each other's work. For her part, Taylor declared her love for the actor when she appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers:
'I watch everything he's in. I'm a huge fan of his,' the singer said.
Dylan has also publicly praised Taylor and her songs many times. For example, after she released Folklore in 2020, he had no shortage of compliments in his interview with Coup De Main magazine:
'Give any of the rest of us six months in quarantine and we look back on it and we're like, "S**t, I should have done more." Give Taylor six months in quarantine, and she writes 50 hit songs.' This was perhaps a joking exaggeration, but it excellently illustrates Dylan's sentiment towards Taylor.
O'Brien is also known to have defended the singer on social media — and that was before the stars became friends or cooperated on All Too Well. So it seems that his casting was a natural choice, and given that the film ended up a major hit, it was also the perfect choice for the role.
This once again proves how talented both celebrities are, and because they love each other's work, we can safely say they have excellent taste in entertainment!
