A puzzling Bethesda Game Studios ad on Reddit touting Fallout: New Vegas for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 has fans buzzing — and scratching their heads — since the 2010 RPG still isn’t on those consoles. Slip-up or a hint that news is coming?

So, Bethesda ran a Reddit ad saying Fallout: New Vegas is available on PS4 and PS5, and fans immediately went, wait, what? Because that 2010 classic is not actually on those consoles. Cue confusion, a little chaos, and a lot of speculation.

What the ad said vs. what is actually true

The ad sparked a thread from Reddit user u/TheWizardOfWaffle asking the obvious: is this a slip-up, or did Bethesda just soft-launch a port? The boring-but-real answer is probably neither dramatic nor sexy.

  • As of late December 2025, Fallout: New Vegas is not natively playable on PS4 or PS5.
  • The only way to play it on PlayStation is via PlayStation Plus Premium cloud streaming, which pipes in the original PS3 version remotely. You are not downloading or installing a PS4/PS5 build.
  • That is very likely what the ad meant by 'available' — clumsy wording that PlayStation fans have seen before with Fallout 3 and New Vegas.
  • In some regions, like Australia and New Zealand, PS Plus streaming is not supported at all, which makes the ad read as flat-out misleading depending on where you saw it.
  • It might also just be ad copy churned out by automation; Reddit ads are often AI-generated, and this has the vibes of sloppy, auto-filled marketing text.

Why people are connecting dots anyway

The timing is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here. Fallout is having a resurgence, and New Vegas is back in the spotlight thanks to Amazon's TV series, with Season 2 expected to lean hard into New Vegas as a setting. On top of that, 2025 has been thick with reporting that multiple Fallout remasters are in the works, not just one.

Windows Central's Jez Corden fanned the flames in November, hinting that New Vegas is in the pipeline alongside the heavily rumored Fallout 3 remaster:

'dw nv is coming too'

And earlier this month, Todd Howard acknowledged the drumbeat for remasters without getting specific:

'We are working on a whole bunch of stuff'

The read

Most likely, this Reddit ad was just messy messaging about PS Plus Premium streaming, not a stealth drop of a PS4/PS5 port. There is still no official confirmation of a New Vegas remaster or a native PlayStation release. But given the show heat, the rumor smoke around multiple Fallout remasters, and Todd doing the non-denial dance, I would not be shocked if New Vegas is on a roadmap somewhere.

For now: assume it is stream-only on PlayStation, and keep expectations in check. If a proper New Vegas remaster does show up, are you jumping back into the Mojave?
