Beloved PBS Hit The Forsytes Scores Season 3 Renewal
PBS period drama The Forsytes is reportedly returning for Season 3 ahead of its U.S. debut on Masterpiece, after first premiering on Channel 5 in the UK.
PBS has a fresh period drama teed up for Masterpiece, and confidence is clearly high: The Forsytes has reportedly locked a Season 3 pickup before U.S. viewers even get a crack at Season 1. It is a very TV scheduling flex, and it tells you exactly how far ahead the production is running.
Where things stand
The Forsytes premiered in the U.K. on Channel 5 back in October 2025. The six-episode first season finally reaches the United States on March 22 via Masterpiece. Season 2 is already in the can. Season 3 is expected to start filming next month in the U.K., with additional shoots planned at locations across Europe. That is a lot of runway laid out before the American debut.
What the show is
Based on John Galsworthy's classic novel cycle The Forsyte Saga, the series settles into late Victorian London and follows a wealthy clan trying to square tradition with ambition and messy personal desires. Think power, propriety, and the cost of both, all wrapped in tailored frock coats.
Who is involved
- Francesca Annis as family matriarch Ann Forsyte
- Fiona Button as Clarissa Heron
- Jack Davenport as James Forsyte
- Millie Gibson as Irene Forsyte
- Tom Durant-Pritchard as Monty Dartie
- Jamie Flatters as Philip Bosinney

- Executive producers: Debbie Horsfield, Meenu Gaur, Michael Ray, and Damien Timmer for Mammoth Screen
- Executive producer for Masterpiece: Susanne Simpson

With Season 3 gearing up and Season 2 already finished, The Forsytes looks positioned to keep charting the family’s fortunes for a while. If you like your drama lush, layered, and quietly ruthless, this one is walking in the door ready.
