Beloved Disney+ Series Set to Make Big-Screen Debut
Phineas and Ferb fans, get ready—Disney has confirmed that the beloved animated duo are heading back to the screen with a brand-new movie, debuting soon on Disney+ and Disney Channel.
Alright, Phineas and Ferb fans—apparently there’s still loads of summer vacation left, because Disney just confirmed a brand-new movie is on the way for these two cartoon legends. Yes, another movie, in addition to the upcoming fifth season (that one's dropping June 2025, in case you haven’t been tracking every teensy rumor of a comeback). And for once, this is official—straight from Disney, not some cryptic tweet from a storyboard artist.
So, What's Actually Happening?
This’ll be the third time Phineas and Ferb get the full movie treatment, and here’s the twist: Instead of more gadgets, musical numbers, or platypus capers (well, maybe those too), the entire plot hangs on one wacky what-if scenario—what if Phineas and Ferb never even met?
How do they get there? That’s classic Doofenshmirtz. Apparently his latest time travel experiment does exactly what you’d expect—screws things up. Long story short, Phineas’s mom never meets Ferb’s dad, so the boys grow up total strangers. You can imagine the fallout: No step-brother bond, no inventive summers, and just a totally ‘meh’ reality where it looks like nobody’s having much fun. Naturally, the universe is in danger and it’s up to the boys (who barely even know each other now?) to fix everything before reality fully implodes. Not exactly what I’d call a normal Sunday in Danville, but sure.
Who’s Back for the Movie?
- Vincent Martella ('Phineas Flynn')
- David Errigo Jr. ('Ferb Fletcher')
- Ashley Tisdale ('Candace Flynn')
- Caroline Rhea ('Linda Flynn-Fletcher')
- Alyson Stoner ('Isabella Garcia-Shapiro')
- Maulik Pancholy ('Baljeet')
- Bobby Gaylor ('Buford')
- Dee Bradley Baker ('Perry the Platypus')
- Dan Povenmire ('Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz')
- Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh ('Major Francis Monogram')
So, yeah, pretty much everyone you’re hoping for is on board. No swap-outs, no voice recasts—just the original crew back to do what they do best.
A Little Production Detail (Because You Might Care)
The movie is being put together by show co-creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff 'Swampy' Marsh (if they aren't involved, I don't want it). They’re both executive producing. Bob Bowen is on deck to direct, with Kate Kondell and Jeff Howard handling the script, and Brandi Young attached as producer.
This will be the first Phineas and Ferb movie since Candace Against the Universe, which came out more than six years ago. Honestly, that gap felt longer, but apparently time flies (except for time travel plots, where it gets really confusing).
When & Where Is This Happening?
The movie doesn’t have a title yet, but Disney’s not being coy about the release: it’s going straight to Disney+ and Disney Channel. Might as well cover all the bases, since half the audience is probably streaming old episodes anyway. This announcement drops right before 'Agent P Under C' shorts are set to hit (those arrive January 16, with new episodes on January 17)—so they’re planting little breadcrumbs for fans who can’t get enough platypus spy action.
Why Should You Care?
If you grew up with this show or have seen one too many ‘weird alternate reality’ fan theories, this movie’s basically written for you. And as Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis put it (gotta love exec speak):
'Phineas and Ferb is built on imagination, heart, and humor, where the unexpected is always part of the fun. This movie gives Dan and Swampy the chance to stretch that world even further and play with what happens when everything gets turned on its head.'
Translation: More chaos, more nostalgia, potentially a little more emotional oomph than usual. If you’re hoping for something ridiculous and maybe surprisingly heartfelt, this could deliver. At the very least, you know it’ll be way above 'adequate'.
