Netflix Only Dropped 8 Episodes of Beauty in Black Season 2 — Here’s Why

Fans were left puzzled when Netflix dropped just 8 episodes for Beauty in Black Season 2 instead of a full season. Here's what led to the unexpected release strategy and what it means for future episodes.
If you opened Beauty in Black Season 2 on Netflix and only saw eight episodes, no, your app is not broken. Netflix is doing the split-season thing again. Here is what is going on, plus a quick catch-up on the chaos Part 1 just stirred up.
Why there are only 8 episodes right now
Season 2 has dropped its first half. Just like Season 1, Netflix is carving the season into two parts instead of dropping all 16 at once. The streamer has not announced a release window for Part 2 yet. If they follow the same playbook as last season, the back half could land sometime in 2026. That is not confirmed, just the safest bet based on the previous rollout.
Quick refresher on the show
Created by Tyler Perry, Beauty in Black tracks two women whose lives keep crashing into each other. Kimmie is a stripper trying to keep her head above water after her mother kicks her out. Mallory is a successful businesswoman who goes home to a mess of a family and a marriage that is not exactly a dream. It is very much a have-and-have-not collision, with the power dynamics shifting depending on the day.
Where Season 2 Part 1 leaves everyone
Kimmie marries Horace Bellarie and is suddenly the new COO of his company. That move does not sit well with plenty of people: Horace's sons Roy and Charles are furious they did not inherit the business, and they are not alone. Horace's brother, Norman, and his ex-wife, Olivia, are also not thrilled. Horace is trying to get Kimmie up to speed, but she clearly has her own agenda. Meanwhile, Mallory is not taking kindly to being pushed off the throne by Kimmie.
- Roy catches Charles hooking up with Attorney Varney and tells the whole family.
- Charles kills three people when they try to rob him of his watch and other valuables, then asks Varney to help him deal with the fallout.
- Rain, Kimmie's best friend, goes on a revenge tear that explodes into a violent confrontation with people who tried to disfigure her.
- In a misread that almost turns tragic, Rain pushes Jules' son, Glen, out a window after mistaking him for sexually assaulting Kimmie's sister, Sylvie. Glen survives.
- Horace tries to have Angel killed, and the hit goes sideways.
So yeah, Part 1 is doing a lot. Part 2 is teed up to be even messier, which, frankly, is the point with this show. Netflix has not stamped a date on the back half yet. When they do, I will update, but for now, expect the second set of episodes to arrive later rather than sooner.
