Winter Offensive blasts into Battlefield 6 with long-awaited fixes, a snow-draped Empire State map, a new event mode, and the Winter Offensive pass—stacked with fresh rewards and reasons to jump back in.

Battlefield 6 just rolled out its Winter Offensive update, and for once it is not just a festive coat of paint. Yes, there is a snowed-in Empire State map variant, plus a limited-time event mode and a Winter Offensive pass, but there are also a bunch of quality-of-life tweaks players have been begging for. If you are jumping back in for the holidays, here is what is hitting hardest right now.

The state of play after the patch

The big headline in the gun sandbox: some fan favorites escaped untouched (looking at you, KORD 6P67), while the NVO-228E took a damage range hit that shakes up mid- to long-range picks. That opens the door for a very clean five-gun meta that can carry you in RedSec and standard multiplayer.

  1. KORD 6P67

Still a monster up close. High fire rate, almost no kick, and the update did not nerf it at all. If you are living in tight angles and fast rotations, this is the safe pick.

    Recommended build
    Barrel: 415MM PROTOTYPE
    Underbarrel: 6H64 VERTICAL
    Ammunition: POLYMER CASE
    Muzzle: LIGHTENED SUPPRESSOR
    Magazine: 36 RND
    Scope: BAKER 3.00X

  2. PW5A3

This SMG is your green light to play unreasonably aggressive. It deletes targets fast and keeps up across modes if you like forcing fights and chasing multikills.

    Recommended build
    Barrel: 245MM CUSTOM
    Right Accessory: 120 MW BLUE
    Ammunition: FMJM
    Muzzle: STANDARD SUPPRESSOR
    Magazine: 40RND MAGAZINE
    Scope: IRON SIGHTS

  3. SOR-556 MK2

Since the NVO-228E ate that damage range nerf, this is the clean swap for mid to long range. Super steady, easy to track people at distance, and it will absolutely farm if you keep your spacing.

    Recommended build
    Barrel: 18" CUSTOM
    Underbarrel: 6H64 VERTICAL
    Ammunition: POLYMER CASE
    Muzzle: LIGHTENED SUPPRESSOR
    Magazine: 36 RND
    Scope: BAKER 3.00X

  4. DRS-IAR

LMGs rarely get their flowers in Battlefield 6, which is wild because this one is basically an assault rifle cosplaying as an LMG. Quick reloads, real damage at every range, and it lets you anchor lanes or roam without feeling sluggish. Note: you may see it listed as DRS-IAS in some places; we are talking about the same gun.

    Recommended build
    Barrel: 20" SDM-R
    Underbarrel: 6H64 VERTICAL
    Ammunition: POLYMER CASE
    Muzzle: LIGHTENED SUPPRESSOR
    Magazine: 36 RND
    Scope: BAKER 3.00X

  5. M4A1

The old reliable is back on top. With the right setup you can tame the wobble and get a laser that wins most fights before the other guy knows what happened. In a patch full of tweaks, this ends up feeling like the best all-around gun in the game.

    Recommended build
    Barrel: 14.5" CARBINE
    Underbarrel: 6H64 VERTICAL
    Ammunition: FMJ
    Muzzle: LIGHTENED SUPPRESSOR
    Magazine: 36 RND
    Scope: RO-M 1.75X

Bottom line: the Winter Offensive update gives you a reason to mix up your loadouts, not just your wardrobe. What is your go-to setup now that the patch is live?
