It's been over 50 years since The Brady Bunch went off the air, and Barry Williams is still holding a grudge — not over fame, contracts, or the bowl cuts, but over one egg.

Specifically, one egg, one pylon, and one extremely stupid driving mistake written into the show's fifth season.

On an episode of The Real Brady Bros. podcast — which Williams co-hosts with fellow former Brady, Christopher Knight — Barry singled out Season 5, Episode 15: "The Driver's Seat," as one of the low points of his time as Greg Brady. The premise: Greg and Marcia make a bet to prove who's the better driver. The challenge? A ridiculous obstacle course full of cones, topped off with an egg-on-a-pylon parking contest. Yes, really.

In the episode, Marcia aces the course and parks within an inch and a half of the egg. Greg? He hits the gas instead of the brake and destroys the egg. End of episode, end of bet, eternal humiliation.

Williams says his beef isn't with Marcia winning — it's with how she won. He told the writers back then that the gas/brake mix-up made no sense. According to him, nobody would believe Greg Brady would suddenly forget how to drive for the sake of a punchline. Fifty years later, he still doesn't buy it.

In his words, as quoted in a 2023 Entertainment Weekly interview:

"I lost that egg on the cone driving contest, and [Maureen McCormick] never let me live it down."

Williams even admitted that when McCormick competed on Dancing With the Stars in 2016, he was determined to outlast her on principle. She made it to week seven. He made it to week eight. As he told EW:

"I have to do that... she never let me live it down."

It's the kind of petty rivalry that only comes from spending your teen years trapped on a soundstage in matching polyester outfits. And while fans may have long forgotten that one overly contrived driving episode, Greg Brady never did.

No one died. No lawsuits were filed. But an egg broke, and Barry Williams never forgave The Brady Bunch for it.
