Avengers: Secret Wars Adds a Black Panther Hero to Its Epic Lineup
Wakanda's protector goes to war in 2027 — and the world may never be the same.
Marvel has been playing extra coy about Avengers: Secret Wars, but one Avenger just said the quiet part out loud: Letitia Wright is in. The Black Panther star says Secret Wars is her next shoot, and she has already wrapped Avengers: Doomsday. Also floating around the edges: Sadie Sink is reportedly in the mix, and Robert Downey Jr. is Victor Von Doom. Yes, that last one is a wild twist.
Wright, who has played Shuri (T'Challa's sister, as played by Chadwick Boseman) since 2018 and now wears the suit as Black Panther, confirmed the Secret Wars gig in a chat with Screen Rant. She kept plot specifics to herself, but she did give a quick status update on both Avengers movies:
"That's what I have to film next, Secret Wars. But Doomsday, we finished that, and that was very great."
She also talked about what it means to keep carrying the mantle, and she made it clear the Boseman legacy is front and center for her.
"Always. Always. It's an honor, but it's also a tribute and a legacy for all that we've done in the first films, and I carry my brother every time. It's a big, big, huge honor for me. I'm excited for the growth of Shuri to be seen in these next few films."
What's confirmed, what's rumored, and when
- Letitia Wright will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars, which is slated for 2027, and she says it is her next project to film.
