Avengers: Doomsday packs an unexpected Marvel Zombies bite, with co-creator Bryan Andrews quietly stepping in to help shape key action scenes.
File this under: Marvel cross-pollination is alive and well. Marvel Zombies co-creator Bryan Andrews says he quietly jumped onto Avengers: Doomsday to help shape some of the movie's action scenes. Not a story crossover, just a behind-the-scenes assist.
In a chat with Brandon Davis, Andrews explained that Marvel Studios regularly borrows talent across projects when big set pieces need extra love. Translation: when the action gets huge, they call in their favorite ringers from other shows and movies. In this case, that included the Marvel Zombies guy.
"I am just helping out on Doomsday with some of the actions... Kevin likes to call us the Avengers."
Quick decoder ring: the 'Kevin' there is Kevin Feige, and the 'us' refers to top storyboard and action specialists Marvel taps to tag-team sequences. Very inside baseball, but it tracks with how Marvel builds these massive things.
Andrews also mentioned he has seen pieces of the film and hinted that Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes could have a significant role. If you're a Winter Soldier person, keep that on your radar.
