Avengers: Doomsday Directors Tease Robert Downey Jr's Iron Man–Doctor Doom Connection And A Secret Wars Twist That Could Rewrite The MCU
The Russo Bros. may have just pulled back the curtain with two blink-and-you-miss-it clues that map out where Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars are headed.
I love a good tease, and the Russos know exactly how to poke the fandom. Their AGBO account dropped a short video that looks goofy at first glance, but the props and staging are basically a neon sign about where Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars might be headed.
The clip: cute gag, loaded background
Posted November 3, 2025 and spotted via ScreenTime, the video shows two AGBO folks standing back to back. One slips on an Iron Man mask, the other a Doctor Doom mask. The camera circles them like it is suggesting two sides of the same coin or maybe a transformation from one to the other. It is cheeky, but it is also exactly the kind of hinty visual language these guys love.
The bigger tell is behind them: costumes for Doctor Doom, Sue Storm, and Franklin Richards sitting together. That trio is not random. It lines up with the post-credits tag in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, where Sue finds Doom talking to a young Franklin. Fans are also clocking the Iron Man/Doom pairing as a wink at Robert Downey Jr. — past role versus the long-rumored future one — but to be clear, that part is still in the speculation lane.
Why those three costumes are a big deal
If you have not brushed up on 2015’s Secret Wars comic, here is the no-math version: when the Multiverse goes to pieces, Doom stitches together a patchwork planet called Battleworld from the remains. He runs the place like a god-king. In that reality, Sue Storm is his queen, and her kids Franklin and Valeria are effectively his step-children — the ultimate needle under Reed Richards’ skin. It is a wild swing in the comics, and seeing Doom, Sue, and Franklin grouped in AGBO’s video sure feels like the Russos are circling that dynamic.
What this could mean for Doomsday and Secret Wars
Put the clues together and you get a picture: Doomsday builds the runway, Secret Wars goes full multiversal chessboard. The Russos have been breadcrumbing this for a while, including a recent nod that backs the running theory that Doomsday functions as an Avengers vs. X-Men showdown. If Secret Wars leans hard on the 2015 event — and at this point it would be weird if it didn’t — a Doom/Sue/Franklin configuration is very much on the table.
Again, it is all teases and vibes until Marvel actually shows footage. But for a 10-second office bit, this one packs a lot: Iron Man next to Doom, a quiet confirmation of where the Fantastic Four threads are headed, and a reminder that the Russos are enjoying the drip-feed game.
Avengers: Doomsday is set for December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027.
