Avatar: Fire and Ash surges in with a sweeping score and two new originals, as returning composer Simon Franglen layers lush, forest textures that build on The Way of Water—discover every track ahead of the global release.

James Cameron is about to drop another three-hour Pandora vacation on us, and the music is loaded. Composer Simon Franglen is back, weaving in those lush, organic textures you remember from The Way of Water, but this time the score leans harder into heat and steel. Two new original songs anchor it, including a Miley Cyrus main theme that feels like a big swing for a series that usually keeps its vocals sacred and Na'vi. Below, the full track list with who did what and how long each cues runs.

Why this one sounds tougher

Fire and Ash heads into new territory with the Mangkwan Clan (aka the Ash People) and a volcanic region. That shifts the whole musical palette darker and more percussive. The narrative is more conflict-driven, the set pieces are bigger, and yes, this is the longest-running film in the franchise, so the score has to carry extended action runs. You can see it right in the cue lengths: The Beach (6:31) and Marshaling Forces (6:06) are built for major, drawn-out sequences. Even so, Franglen still threads in that forest-y DNA from earlier films, which makes the contrast with all the fire-and-iron material pop even more.

The two original songs

There are two fresh vocal tracks baked into the movie:

- Dream as One is the main theme, performed and written by Miley Cyrus. It is a contemporary pop-ballad take that goes for harmony, hope, and unity. It is designed to counterbalance the heavier action elsewhere, so expect it to hit during moments that want to feel sweeping rather than punishing.

- The Future and the Past comes from Simon Franglen and features Zoe Saldaña. Think closer to The Songcord from The Way of Water: intimate, Na'vi-forward, likely using traditional textures and vocals to tap into legacy, memory, and Pandora's spiritual side.

Overall, the soundtrack is distinct from both Avatar and The Way of Water, with a more aggressive edge to match where the story goes.
