Avatar: Fire and Ash Is Headed to Disney Plus — Here’s When You Can Stream It
Pandora roars back as Avatar: Fire and Ash storms into theaters, fusing eye-melting spectacle with raw emotion: the Sullys mourn Neteyam while a relentless Quaritch hunts for his son Spider, igniting a brutal new chapter after The Way of Water.
James Cameron dragged us back to Pandora, and surprise: it’s bigger, louder, and somehow even more personal. If you’re trying to figure out what this chapter actually does, how it ties to the last movie, and when you can watch it from your couch, here’s the clean version without the fluff.
Where 'Fire and Ash' picks up
The story picks up right after 'The Way of Water.' The Sullys are still dealing with Neteyam’s death. Quaritch, somehow even more relentless than last time, is tracking down his human son, Spider. Meanwhile the RDA has gone full-on predatory, harpooning Tulkuns to extract Amrita — a single vial apparently goes for about $80 million. On top of that, the Ash People show up and escalate everything, and Kiri finally taps into the powers that movie two very obviously teased.
It’s an action-heavy, emotionally loaded sequel that runs 3 hours and 17 minutes, because of course it does. Cameron directs, and the returning cast includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, and Joel David Moore — plus Oona Chaplin as Varang.
The early scorecard
'Avatar: Fire and Ash' opened worldwide on December 19, 2025 and has already banked $43.1 million internationally in its first two days (via Deadline). The Rotten Tomatoes score is sitting at 67% for now, which will almost certainly bounce around as more reviews land.
When can you stream it?
Short answer: not yet. Disney hasn’t announced a streaming date — the movie just hit theaters and the studio wants you seeing Pandora on a giant screen first. But we can make an educated guess based on the last one.
- 'The Way of Water' timeline: theaters on Dec 16, 2022; digital purchase on Mar 28, 2023; streaming on Disney+ and Max in the U.S. on Jun 7, 2023.
- Using a similar window, expect 'Fire and Ash' to hit digital storefronts (buy/rent) around Tue, Mar 31, 2026 — roughly 102 days after the theatrical launch.
- Then look for it to stream on Disney+ in the U.S. around Wed, Jun 17, 2026 — about 78 days after the digital drop.
Where it will (and won’t) stream
This is a 20th Century Studios title, and 20th is owned by Disney. Translation: the Avatar movies live on Disney+. Don’t expect 'Fire and Ash' on Netflix. You will see it on Amazon’s Prime Video storefront once it goes digital, but that will be for purchase or rental — not part of the subscription. It may also pop up on Hulu in some regions, but Disney+ is the home base.
For now, Pandora is a theatrical experience. 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' is playing in theaters worldwide.
